Murphy has two wins in the three races, Kings Speedway and Bakersfield, while the third win in this year's series went to Danny Faria Jr. At Santa Maria. Thanks for the information and kind words. I know it will be fun, fast and ferocious. I am looking forward to seeing the best talent pool in the western USA mix it up. With the quality of competitors it is hard pressed to be beat anywhere. I know CRA/GoldenState etc. cannot put on a better show and to come to Jim Naylors very well prepared track is awesome.

I'd like to offer up a tip for those new to VRA land, check out the announcer...he is one of the best, most entertaining in the country. Any gueses who? It is the track promotor and the Grand Slam host, Jim Naylor.

My good friend Cliff Morgan and team run a tight ship, the show goes off in a very orderly manner. Remember the time constraints so the pit gate opens at noon and the pit meeting is on at around 3:30, right? Cars get on the track a bit earlier than other tracks and you will be done in plenty of time to enjoy the Ventura night life or share a beverage with an amigo or two.

So my Bandito's come early and enjoy. The beach is directy across the drive way- I'll be there with my kids playing and hanging out before the Slam. Bring a surf board (but no quads) it'll be great!

I might just take you up on that offer! It will no doubt be a great show. It's really nice to see so much press towards this loaded series. All of the drivers, teams, and sponsors deserve it.

-Series point's leader, Peter Murphy will have to fend off a tough Greg Taylor!

The series championship is going right down to the wire-as it should. The Bandit/VRA series has no doubt lived up to the hype. It's exciting to see the championship decided by a Bandit and VRA regular.

Peter Murphy is on a tear right now, but Greg Taylor won't be taken lightly by the Tarlton camp. Greg is not only the defending Grand Slam series champion, but he put a feather in his cap, by also becoming the VRA Sprint car series champion!

Both of these drivers will take no prisoners this weekend, and go where only Eagles dare to fly out on the race track.

As I previously said before, it is nice to see a lot of press towards the series. They (360s) deserve just as much press as the 410s. Everyone works just as hard, and wants to win just as bad.

I swear, this Saturday night at Ventura, you're going to think that they're racing for $50,000 to win. Good luck to everyone.

Respectfully, Gary Costa

Greg Taylor must have his "elbows up" to catch Peter Murphy!

I really looking forward to this race. I sure hope some of the central CA drivers come on down this time besides Peter Murphy.

The weather is always good at Ventura, just as long as you like to wear a jacket at night wink and Naylor is pretty darn good at providing a great track for the main event, I don't know of anybody else who does it better on a consistant basis.

I'm sure the hardcore 410 fans will be at Perris this week, but its kinda a shame that we had basically a month off at Perris and Ventura with sprint cars, and now we must choose between a awesome 360 race and the return of CRA. But during the summer heat, you just can not beat a Grand Slam show at Ventura especially if you live just 30 minutes from the track, and I believe the Wags Dash is the following week. Maybe the 2 best weekends of racing at the Beach all year long!

PS For new fans coming to Ventura from the Central Coast, NO MATTER HOW WARM IT IS, throw in a warm jacket and maybe a blanket in your car, it does get surprisingly cool even during the Summer at Ventura some nights. And Gary is right, this race and almost every sprint car race I have every seen at Ventura the drivers act like they are racing for a million dollars, the racing is intenense on the small 1/5 track bull ring.

Costa is right about the 360s working hard. The last 3 Bandit shows at Santa Maria were far better than the 410 deal. Was really thinking abou tthe midget show at Hanford but Ventura is really a top notch facility and the weather is just the icing on the cake. Also tired of the 12 cars that show up for the midget races.
