Ocean Speedway  Wright One 360 Sprint Car Series

Round Eight Friday night August 15, 2008

After another week of hot temperatures, the red hot Wright One 360 Series returned to Ocean Speedway for round number eight of the hotly contested series. Twenty eight winged 360 sprint cars packed the pits on the final night of pre qualifications for the 48th running of the Johnny Key Classic. Brent Kaeding took his famed #69 Al’s Roofing, Kaeding Performance Maxim to his third consecutive series win. BK lurked from his sixth starting spot to take the lead from “cowboy: Craig Smith on the fourth lap of the feature, never to look back. Santa Clara’s Brad Furr continued his consistent stretch with yet another runner up finish. Furr looked fast all night in the Big O Tires, #2 Eagle Chassis. Fast timer Evan Suggs, of Scotts Valley chased Furr to the line with another impressive run. Stephen Allard and Ronnie Day put on a show, mounting their charge from the final row of the feature; both drivers were forced to transfer through the “B” feature. By virtue of their strong runs, both drivers have now locked themselves into the Johnny Key Classic that will be run on August 29, 2008. Ronnie Day, who was wheeling the Werbach Motorsports entry this week, will more than likely be hunting a ride to utilize his guaranteed starting spot in the Key race. Bud Kaeding should be back behind the wheel of the Werbach car for the Key race

B Main event action saw Ricky Wright Jr.take the checkers ahead of Escalon visitor Myles Bishop, and Matt Sargent. The final transfer positions went to Kurt Nelson, Ronnie Day and Stephen Allard. Day led the entire race until some confusion with the flags on the starter stand led Ronnie to believe the race was over on the White flag lap. Day was quickly able to grasp the situation in time to stay within a transfer position.
