So how many/who is expected to make the tow to Benton and West Memphis? I saw where Benton only had 5 cars for their last weekly show. So I doubt they'll contribute much to the car count. Will there be a full field of cars? Memphis should be able to fill the field with 360s.

You will have your normal ASCOC's like Blaney, Dewease, Hannagan, Wilson, Ellenberger, Martin, Myers, Stark, Mayes, Campbell and Blonde. Thats 11. Your MASS cars, Hull, Bruns, Bunton, Throckmorton, Wyzard, Thompson and Greer. Maybe Hurley, Shanks, Wade, May, Jeremy Standridge and The Montgomery's. You will have Worley Jr, and the 4 other normal Benton cars. Thats 23 for sure and 30 if everyone shows up that usually does. Not to mention the West Memphis cars that will show up, It will be a very good show.

Who covers the sprint car purse? All Stars or the Benton track? I think that will define the car count. It was my under standing the track had about 150 people in the stands for their last weekly show to go along with those 5 sprint cars.

Benton and West Memphis have both posted that Sammy will be racing a local car in both shows. I haven't seen anything official on Lasoski. As well I am only questioning the Benton show because the track has a lot of bad bagage. I don't want to spend $80 on tickets plus gas money and time then find out they don't have any cars.

There is no doubt the West Memphis show will be excellant.

The WestMemphis show will be the better of the 2, local 360's will fill the field. As for Benton, I'd guess the AllStars are putting up the purse on that one. I haven't been back to Benton since the MidWest race back in the spring. I don't know what's up with the Midwest series, a lot of those shows are cosanctioned, but those shows don't appear to have a bearing on the points?? I'm guessing the midwesters are to fill the field at Benton, I don't see them being a factor other than that. None of the local cars have been supporting Benton, and not many cars have been supporting the Midwest series, this sure makes you wonder how many will be there. I'll wait and catch the ASCOC later, and maybe the Midwest series at Bloomington. For me, it's not worth taking a chance on a 4 hr. drive to Benton, been there done that.

Not sure what the deal is at Benton. It looks like a nice facility when you walk through the gate. But they can't put any cars in the pits in any of the classes. The Benton track is our closest track but we drive to Farmington most nights, sometimes Lake Ozark or West Memhpis.Farmington has had good car counts and attendance all year. Most of the cars have chosen to race Farmington over the MASS shows. Lake Ozark and West Memphis are having good sprint shows as well. With Benton running Fridays and the other three sprint tracks running Saturday there should be plenty of cars for Benton every Friday. But they are staying away. I see a ton of people in the seats at Farmongton from the Benton area. I tried Benton several times this year but finally gave up. It's a same because it would be great to have another good track in the area. I'd certainly make two shows per weekend if there was another good option.

Benton has issues to say the least. I don't know what Farmington pays, but the Benton payout is not good. The website has 2 or 3 payscales depending on car count. If I'm not mistaken the last night they ran, they only paid a % of the gates between the classes. I have been to a couple of midweststars races there and was not impressed with either one. The best midwest series races are best where there is a strong base of cars, Bloomington and Paragon are the best ones I've been to. When they venture off on their own they tend to struggle, hence all the cosanctions I guess. Benton will be a crapshoot for cars and fans. It won't do any good to have 30 sprinters and only 300 fans. I'm hoping an IL track will pickup a weekly show for next year, maybe Jacksonville again. I plan on my first trip to Farmington later in the year, maybe I'll see you there DIRT.

Sanctioning bodies set the purse, promoters pay it.

One of the best things about the O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions and the O'Reilly Midwest All Star Series is we call drivers and car owners and invite them to the race. At this point, we have 19 cars committed to come for the Benton race with a ton of additional interest. This number DOES NOT include any of the O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champion drivers who are additionally looking at coming. It looks like it should be good show as far as car count in concerned.

If you have not been to Benton Race Park yet this year, you are missing out on one of Missouri's finest facilities. Randy Dukes and Billy Clayton have been working their tails off trying to make the venue better and the 2 gentlemen care about the racing surface. I spoke with Randy Dukes earlier today about the track and he stated that they have already been working to water the track and do additional maintenance to the track in preparation for this Friday's events.

There's not many drivers nor car owners who have had anything negative to say about the track all year long. The Dukes/Clayton combination are really trying to do something special down there. Benton Race Park is truly a hidden gem when it comes to places to watch a sprint car race. It is too bad that they are struggling to bring in a lot of cars and fans on a weekly basis. Benton has become one of my favorite venues to attend in 2008. Even if I wasn't assosciated with the series, I would greatly consider making the 8 hour trip from Des Moines to be a part of this weekend's action.

Hope to see you all there!

wheres your - o wait - you work for the series ------- ok. i thought there was something wrong with ya for a moment ---------- cool for benton if its great -------- but for the best racing action in the area ------ LAKESIDE!!!!!

i wouldnt trade double heats for time trials ANY DAY! and it helps that non-wing racing is just better than winged racing. the sprint bandits were AWESOME tonight at OKC. lookin forward to the non wing shootout at Creek County tomorrow. 3 classes of non wing sprints. should be GREAT.

Basically about the same as the midwest series then. I see on the website they've had several specials for not only the sprints, but all the classes. Hope to see you there later in the year. mo21 are you going to the ASCOC race at Benton? I assume you're from that area,SEMO.

We haven't seen Sammy run at the "Ditch" in a long time around here. It should be alot of fun. The weatherman has push the rain back to Sunday as of now. Let's hope it stays that way.

What does the Benton race pay to win? The All Stars website says $3,000, but the television ads say $5,000. I suspect they just used the All Star canned TV ads and forgot to change the prize money. Ooops!!

Farmington has been having some really good shows. The track is small enough that the action is never strung out in the feature. They have a good loyal core group of about 20 - 24 sprints each week with some other guys coming and going. 8 - 10 differant feature winners this year. There's been about 40 differant guys run at some point during the year. Some $2000 to win shows but no santioned shows so these are all fairly local cars. Been getting around 30 modifieds, 20 pure streets and 15 600 multies. You need to make a show I've not been disappointed yet. Tracks in good shape and they get done at a reasonable time. If it's a long trip then I'd suggest the show (Queen's Royal)at the end of the year.

That's the race I have down on the calendar, Oct.4th. I have been to Jacksonville and Benton, just haven't made it to Farmington yet. It must be a decent facility, it reflects in their car counts. Benton being a gem is a PR tactic, no cars and no fans tells the story there. Jacksonville is a decent little track for wing and nonwinged sprinters, DIRT have you been there? I have been to 2 shows there this year and they were alright. I'm hoping they go back to winged cars next year, much closer for me than any other winged sprint tracks. It looks like rain could be a factor this weekend anywhere in the midwest.

Farmington is an old facility and nothing fancy. Just a nice racey little track. Good field of cars and nice friendly people in the stands. It is the track we routinely attend. I've been to Jacksonville but not since they went to non wing sprints. But only because it hasn't worked out to make a trip up there. Rain outs have been brutal this year. It's a long drive and we don't consider it unless the weather is right. The shows I've seen at Jacksonville in the past were all good. We've been to tracks all over and typically everyone has good racing.

Don't know how you feel about 360 sprints or how far you want to drive (I am guessing it's a long trip for you) but West Memphis has some good shows. The ASCS shows are great.

We are undecided on Benton this weekend. The All Star show might work. But I've had some really bad expereances at Benton. It is risky at best.

Benton is just a 40 mile drive for me. If there is no rain in the forecast I'm planning on coming over. Might have to think hitting The Ditch if Fri. is a rainout. Is Tim Shaffer planning on racing at these races or is that team running somewhere else?

DIRT I feel the same way about Benton, not many good things happen there, so I'll sit it out. Even if they get cars, I doubt the track wll hold up. WestMemphis wouldn't be out of the question, just about a 7 hr drive though, too far for a single race night. I'm undecided on Sat. night, probably a nonwing race in IN. It looks like weather may be a factor this weekend.
