Night of the Twins Promises Double the Action Saturday at 34 Raceway!
(Bill W) August 11, 2008 – A first will occur for the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders this Saturday night! Twin 15-lap features will be run at the 34 Raceway near West Burlington, Iowa on a special "Night of the Twins"! After the first feature is run, the second will be run with a total inversion, with the winner placed at the rear of the field! Bonuses can be obtained by the driver who accumulates the most points in both features ($500) and if one driver can win both main events, he/she will add a $1000 bonus!
The Sprint Invaders will be making their third appearance at the 34 Raceway in 2008 and 17th in the history of the series. So far, current point leader, John Schulz has used consistency and a win at 34 in May to lead the standings entering the halfway point. Matt Rogerson can't be counted out either. The Burlington native is the all-time feature winner leader with the Sprint Invaders at the banked 3/8 mile oval. He captured his fifth win there last April.
"Lil' Dude" Bobby Mincer has been coming on strong, using a hard-charger performance a the Lee County Speedway, and a win at the Cedar County Speedway in July to pull just 18 points behind the leader. Rogerson is third, followed by "The Professor" Josh Schneiderman, who will return to the 34 Raceway for the first time since he had the crowd on its feet for his third place showing with the World of Outlaws in late July. Crowd favorite "Flyin'" Ryan Jamison rounds out the top five in the standings.
Korey Weyant, Matt Harms, Jimmy Davies, Jerrod Hull and 2007 Rookie of the Year Jordan Goldesberry round out the top ten in the standings. The Rookie of the Year battle continues to heat up. 15 year old Austin McCarl leads mini-sprint veteran Andy Huston by 60 points in that quest.
Racing starts at 7 p.m. with pit gates opening at 4 p.m. and Grandstands at 5 p.m. Adult admission is $15, Senior and Student admission is $13, and children 10 and under are free. For information on 34 Raceway, visit www.34Raceway.com! We'll see you Saturday!
Camfab Offers Bonus for the "Highest Finishing 305"
Camfab has offered to award a $25 Gift Certificate from Midland Performance to the "Highest Finishing 305" in each Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invader feature race.
The Sprint Invaders season opener at 34 Raceway saw 32 winged sprints take to the track in search of a qualifying spot for the A-Main. One of those cars was the #23 car piloted by young gun Kevin Hetrick. Hetrick not only qualified but was the highest finishing 305, making him the first recipient of Camfab's award. Thank you Chris McGraw and congrats to Kevin Hetrick.
