Ok with the new payout announced for ASCS what does it do with the Super sprints at the farigrounds? Since they do not run the same rules as the ASCS does Lanny tweak the rules so that they are or does he leave them the same as they are now. My opinion is he keeps them the same. With the numbers he is getting now why change is what he might be thinking of course that is just my opionion.

What does everyone else think?

If the rules were brought into line with the ASCS, more cars might be tempted to go off chasing a bigger purse at tracks like Cowtown.  That's probably the reason they weren't changed before, and the bigger carrot just makes it more important to keep the local cars locally dependent and ASCS ineligible.  Don't look for any changes unless something $trange happen$.

Rumor is that Devil's Bowl will change their rules for about the 30th time back to ASCS rules next year. That leaves 1 track that runs super sprints. To me it would make sense to change the motor rules here. I would say leave the small wings on them, but last year when they tried the smaller wings at Dallas, the cars got faster. And with our GREAT racetracks, that could be very dangerous.

If your talking about weekly shows Galen Cowtown only pays 750 to win as to where the city pays 1000. I agree though i dont think anything will change.

As an idealist we should have ASCS rules. As a realist most people can't afford to switch over.

No, actually, I was talking about when ASCS is in the area. Unless something positive happens with fuel costs before next year, it might not matter all that much one way or another, eh?

no i dont think we should at all. ascs counts in oklahoma havent exploded statewide any more that our local super sprint count here - hell - everyone should remember - there are about 30-35 guys that have supers - maybe more. gas prices prevent some from comin - but the track prep and lanny prob do more to dissuade than anything else.

no we would lose a lot of cars if we swithced over. and regardless of who pays what - we are still in a real iffy economy to where its hard to see a good economic future for racing. that would be a move that would be meant to pay off down the road - times are more questionable now than i can remember - best to stick with what we have,

and realistically - our supers are WAY better racing. those big ol wings on ascs just lock em down - make em fast but with no passing. our supers have better races than ascs here JMO.

and if its all relative - not only could the supers be called into question - but the champ sprints as well. remember they run 360ci. - they are less expensive than a super or ascs - but the champ sprints ar ejust as far away from ascs rules as the super sprints. its a completely different spec head for both - i know that - there are many more differences - but im not an expert on this stuff.

Fan are you sure that the champs are less expensive than the supers?

A lot of the same pieces go into to any kind of 360. If you want the best of the best all 3 motors could come very close in cost.

On another note I agree with Cody, I love our small wings. It will make a driver out of anyone. Too bad Emmit didn't go with flat top pistons and small wings when he started ASCS or things would be a lot more even.
