USAC POSTPONES INAUGRUAL INDIANA MIDGET WEEK EVENT TO BE HELD AT UNION COUNTY SPEEDWAY USAC Officials announced the indefinite postponement of the Indiana Midget Week event scheduled today at Union County Speedway due to extensive safety concerns. USAC Officials met at length with team representatives and drivers prior to making the decision. Series officials deemed the corrective action required could not be completed in time for the evening's competition. "We are postponing today's race at Union County amid numerous safety concerns raised by both our Officials and Teams" stated Kevin Miller, CEO of USAC Racing. "We offer our sincerest apologies to our fans and our associates at Union County Speedway. I am confident in the final decision made by USAC Officials, as our first priority is to ensure the safety of our competitors and fans. " Indiana Midget Week continues at Bloomington Speedway on Friday, Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday and concludes at Kokomo Speedway Sunday evening. EVENT TO BE HELD AT UNION COUNTY SPEEDWAY

What? No one from USAC checked the track before finalizing the schedule?

This does not surprise me. I remember USAC did the same thing at Kokomo. They got pissed at Owsley when he owned the track and the next race that was scheduled was canceled due to safety concerns. I would bet there is more to it than just safety.

They said the walls were the biggest issue and some were citing insurance issues. Something about the walls only being waist high? Obviously noone knows the real situation except the owner and USAC officials but I know they brought in Police to escort people out so there wasn't a situation.
