Topic: Tucson's Roger McCluskey Classic = 360 Winged Sprints in 2008

According to USA Race Park's website (www.usadirtrack.com), this year's Roger McCluskey Classic (Dec. 27/28) will be a 2 day 360 WINGED SPRINT CAR show, along with Dirt Modifieds.
In the past, the event has been a 360 and 410 (restricted) non-wing sprint car show.

Hmmmm I don't recall Roger doing much racing with the roof top on.

Well, if that ain't a bite in the butt!?!? I guess we won't be racin' new years eve this year!! We've had a lot of fun out there the past couple years, and I thought they were building a great tradition, but this sure throws a monkey wrench into the whole deal. That sucks.

That's for sure, he's probably rolling over in his grave.
The deal is the corporation (ASCS) wants all of AZ and if they had their way the would probably put wings on the old ASCA bunch, well most of them, but not all, that runs with ASCS now. It's the only group under them that runs without wings and with the USAC/CRA bunch not coming over for a variety of reasons, and the AZ boys not travelling over to California any more, well in my opinion it makes them weaker and Manzanita more susceptible to being swayed into running a winged Saturday show. It makes me sick just to think about it.
You have no idea how many of us pleaded with Keith Hall whenever we got the chance to change the Western back to a non-wing show, like God intended it to be..LOL I'd hate to see our non winged guys get run over by the corporation.

Wouldn't that group at Manzy have to agree to run with wings, I don't see that happening anytime soon. I'd be willing to bet they get rid of ASCS if that was the case.

And for most of my life I'd have laughed at you if you told me CRA would get in bed with USAC. You're right though, traditionally AZ has been a non wing state but Manzy and the AZ boys have always had a close relationship with CRA and there is no CRA anymore, not as we knew it at least.

I just got off of the phone with Tiffany at USA Raceway and what a breath of freash air. She told me it was an over site on their part and it was never meant to be a winged show. Now we just need to get as many cars there as possible and support those that support us. See you all in Tucson!!!
