Ok I get the aunt/uncle thing but you lost me at the frog ???

Here is what I saw on Saturday and many other Saturdays at Petaluma. I see the event being called to staging 5,6,7 times while the sprint car drivers sit on the right rear tire of their car yelling "F*%K YOU" and "OH SHUT THE F*%K UP" etc, etc. Many (not all) have no respect for anyone. Granted they, like your aunt, has balls for driving those things but when there's a time crunch for whatever reason the drivers need to cooperate and get there car to staging to race. I for one spent numerous hours sitting in staging while a shower of sprint car parts rained onto my car and had my races cut short because sprinters spent more time in the fence then racing. The reason they only got three laps from my view was because they were way late getting to staging then could not go 1 lap without a crash. Must have been former modified drivers like myself. The reason why all the fans have 3X sweetshirts is because it is cold at Petaluma so fans buy the only thing for sale that will keep them warm. Unfortunatly the hot chocolate and coffee are cold before you get back to your seat. If you could explain the frog thing to me that would be great.

Actually I’ve been trying to buy a 3x sweatshirt for months, but they’ve been sold out for a long time. So I don’t think that’s the only reason there are so many T-shirts up there. And I think a lot of people have jackets they bring from home. lol

I think Petaluma ran a really good show last week. Track was in great condition and everything ran really smooth.

if a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his butt so much. think about it. maybe this will make more sense to you.

if if's and but's were berries and nuts we'd all have food for the winter.

i could see you being upset sitting in staging having bent sprint car parts that are worth more than your whole can come down on you! lol. now that was just wrong! lord forgive me. i do apologize.

You have lost all creditability with that last comment about the man's modified. Leave the Petauluma track alone. I am sure they are doing the best job they can. Things are never perfect on a dirt track. I don't see any of the sprint car drivers that participated that night on here complaining. JMO.

Now thats funny right there I dont care who youare !!

Your are correct !! Most of those parts are worth more than my whole (Im assuming "car" is the word after whole) anyway.... the budget racer I am jumps out, collects all the parts and turns them into the aluminum recycler behind Safeway. They give me top dollar for that stuff. Thats why I appreciate sprint car drivers such as yourself. You are the ones that keep me racing. Smile

I'm still thinking about the whole frog/wing/butt thing and I think I get it (forgive me, us dumb modified drivers are too dizzy to think because we have spun out 50 million times) but then you throw in the if/but/berries/nuts/food thing and really thrown me for a loop. I guess if you were not busy spending money on high dollar parts worth more than my whole (car)? then you would have food for the winter. Just a thought. Anyway back to the topic, my point is that all the drivers, officals, promoters and everyone involved needs to cooperate to make sure everyone gets there laps and keeps this awesome sport alive regardless if you spend more money than my whole, or sell the aluminum from your parts to fund the racing.

Support classes are fine with me. I enjoy dirt track racing period. I dont particularly care for latemodels and alot of mod shows I have seen had drivers that werent too skilled so they spun alot. I still like watching them most the time though especially when some talented drivers are at the helm. Sprint cars benefit from a class like mini stocks when the track has sealed over. The minis can go out in their a main and rip the top surface clean so the rubber doesnt lay down in the sprint main. I call it "fast paced track grading" and usually there is some good action. They are not too heavy to really rut it up like the street stocks, just enough to clean the seal off the top of the clay. The thing is no dirttrack in the country needs more than 4 classes at any given time. 4 is the MAX any more cars and it only takes a couple of hicups and some class is missing out on the a main action. Fans will not pay for that for too long. I avoid shows with more than 4 classes and I dont like 1 division shows, 2-3 classes is good.
Cheers!

LOL wow that was interesting. Everyone in an uproar over one personal opinion. I do agree with the one person's comment about the sweatshirts only being sold because it gets cold at petaluma. lol. I will however disagree with the comments about sprint car drivers yelling profanity sitting on their car. Being someone in the pits i havent witnessed that, only unless it was AFTER a race because of something that might have happened. So dont act so innocent to the profanity yelling thing. ALL classes are guilty of that one. The anger and the annoyed tone in PetalumaPits "typing" is pretty amusing. And as a matter of fact i was there to hear the pit meeting and quite honestly, it sounded like the same old b.s. you guys bring to the table every weekend. Whatever though. People will continue to race at petaluma because its one of the few dirt tracks left around this area. Like the other poster said, if you treat your racers like you treat the poster (that being me Smile), you're basically not going to have anyone. And thats the truth because that is exactly what they do. What a joke.....

Ohhhh yeaa guilty as charged. i have done my share of the profanity yelling. Got put on the trailer one night for it. (I deserved it. i was being a real s.o.b) It usually slips out by accident but every now and again it is on purpose. I do agree if you treat the racers, which are the tracks customers, like dirt then at the end of the day thats all there will be left is the dirt. I for one am a Petaluma Speedway supporter because there has been way more good times then bad.

and we have a winner! that thar was fun-ee. thanks for correctly interpreting my missing words as i some times get to typing faster with my one good typing finger than my brain can handle. i bet you would be in mod-ee-fied heaven if a whole sprint car came over the fence!! titainium bolt kit and all! at least it looks like someone at that place can appreciate us foul mouthed premadonna sprint racers! good luck and happy salvaging at the civil war race.

ha! Ok So we are all starting to agree. The Sprint cars are crazy and have big balls, but cannot get to the staging area in a timeley manner. 3X doesn't sell sweatshirts because of her fan base, but because it;s cold in P-town. They come to the track unprepared. They cheer when she hits the track because they want to acknowledge the great deal they got on the sweatshirt. They're thanking her. Staging area is dangerous because of flying sprint car parts. And frogs don't don't have wings, and they bump their butt!

I've been visiting Petaluma speedway my entire life. Have probably been to hundeds of nights of racing there. I've been in the pits and in the stands. Seen some great battles, and not only the spring cars. Some of the greatest batles I have witnessed have been in the street stock and dirt modified classes. One class should never rip on another class. Every one of these guys poor their heart into their sport and what they love.
All their energy all week long goes into'Their race', and their car. It;s a passion they all have. Which I can hardly relate to because I'm not a driver. Just a lifelong fan. So yeah, I have been to many a race at ol' Petaluma speedway, and that place is part of me, and I wait every week for you all to show up, and do your stuff. And if you race hard enough maybe you'll sell a sweatshirt of your own...

the one thing we seem to agree on is that everyone should be treated fair. that is why i posed my question to "petaluma pits" asking what they did if anything to try to resolve the issue of multiple classes and a looming curfew. i asked if they thought to fairly allow each class a predetermined amount of time or if they just ran the thing and who ever went last got what was left. if they had x amount of classes and x amount of time did they think to tell everyone you only have x amount of time to race, if you use it all up staging or racing or spinning out or crashing it is what it is. then if some got their whole race in and some got half and some got 3 laps at least the track did what it could for all. but it seems when you ask some thing like that you get snapped at for "critisizing" and then ignored. us racers bust each others balls all the time, but when one needs help there is no one there faster to lend a hand than a fellow racer, no matter what they race. we pit side by side with modifieds, stock cars, micros, sprints. we borrow each others air hoses and tools and help push each other's bent stuff back in or on the trailer. except for that one guy going around picking up bent sprint car parts. lol. i have been told that on a clear night, if you squint real hard, just off hwy 101 you can see a lone modified sitting in the staging lane...... waiting.

It seems that you have a personal vendetta or hidden agenda against Petaluma. Why don't you just get it off you're mind and tell everyone exactly what it is that your upset about. I really don't think it has anything to do with the problems of two weeks ago. I assume you're a dirt track racer or fan, and as such you should understand (and maybe you do) that the track is not going to be perfect each week. No dirt track can be perfect every week. That's just the way it is. But I think you harbor feelings that go deeper than your criticism of track preparation, curfew and a three lap sprint car main event. If you go back and read the Petalumapit's response you will find you're answer at the track's website. What happened in the past - were you slighted in some way? Were you're feelings hurt? Did you or you're car get black flagged? Please enlighten all of us as to the reasons for your attack on the Petaluma facility. Its obvious that it has nothing to do with the events of two weeks ago. Again I have seen no reaction one way or the other from the sprint car field that evening. Either tell you're fellow posters or move on. JMO. And quit bitchin' geez...

nothing as deep as a personal vendetta or hidden agenda. i just asked a question to the person who seemed to be trying to supply all the answers and they haven't been able to generate a responce. i as well as everyone else should not have to just blindly accept any explination given. we know they had some unforseen problems. "petaluma pits" was on a roll with expliations and excuses untill i asked what their thought process was in regards to setting time limits to try to be fair to everyone, or just running the races and see what happened when it came to the last classes.

As a race fan just sitting in the grandstand I have to say Petaluma is one of my favorite tracks. What I like about it is that tacky surface. It brings back memories of West Capitol Speedway for me. It seems to allow multiple grooves and lots of passing.

I don't take in the weekly shows there but I attended both GSC races this year. Back in April I was treated to the best 19 laps of lead swapping I've seen all year. Bud Kaeding got his 1st GCS win that night. The entire show was over well before 9, which I know is pretty rare.

If on that night the A main was cut to three laps I would of surely been pissed so I do understand the motive for this thread. I do try to not attend races with more then two classes running. I'm a Sprint Car fan and that's what I enjoy watching, So for me multiple classes just dilutes what I'm spending my entertainment bucks on so those shows will rarely draw me in. I understand tracks needs to make money but they rarely get mine for those programs

I don't know anything on what happens in the pits but I have to say my impression of Petaluma is that it is one heck of a place to watch Sprint Cars. I'd be heading there this weekend for the Civil War race but Chico has the GCS final and it's the Tribute to Gary Patterson to boot!

i am with you on the racing surface deal and on the exciting on track racing. we all have to have something to say about stuff, some of us more than others! if you are thin skinned and take yourself to serious and take what others say too personal then this board will beat you up. we all know we are in this thing together but sometimes it is like a big family fight.

Can't blame you for that one. Being a GP fan, and in attendance for his final lap at Calistoga, I'd love for Petaluma to do something in honor of a true sprint car original. I actually brought up the subject the week of the 25th anniversary of his passing to the announcer and nothing was said over the PA system and all I could think was that a tribute to a legend, how small it may be, is always deserved. I think the ball was dropped on that day..

Ok to be fair to Team Wright-one and to hopefully give him answers he is looking for, we here at Petaluma speedway really try to give different types of fans and drivers what they want in terms of options. We have a beginner class, intermediate classes and premier classes to appeal to everyone that loves racing. Now if you look at our schedule we have changed it this year from years past at the request of the racers and fans that felt 4 classes was a good number. As we would like to do this all year, we still need to balance the requests with the business of keeping the doors open; especially in Ca. and especially in this economy and we have a business need to run 6 classes on occasion. To put Saturday in a nut shell it was not the racers getting to staging as coyote40 suggested but it was a simple miscommunication between officials and as the website stated “Murphy’s law” which hurt all of us. It hurt the racers and fans because of the lack of racing, and it hurt Petaluma Speedway because it made us look really really bad in the eyes of our fans and competitors. So for our part we played in the scheme of things, I do apologize to the racers and the fans. We at Petaluma Speedway really do appreciate all our racers and fans. We also understand that some of us here are not very good public speakers especially at the pit board meetings but we do the best we can with what we have to work with. We really appreciate every ones support and all the positive things that were said on this thread.

Well well well....as i see everyone has made up from fighting, i'm going to be the black sheep. Someone wanted to know the vendetta or whatever behind the anger? Here it is. I'm with a sprint car driver. I'm there every weekend he races at Petaluma, and every weekend its the same joke. The short sprint car race was just one incident on top of many from weeks prior. While PetalumaPits all of the sudden wants to get all sensitive after his "9 on the tension scale" outburst a few posts ago, it means nothing. Its funny how the words of PetalumaPits sound exactly like the track promotor. He mentioned how the drivers are provided with options? Since when? Only speaking for the sprint car drivers, if there is ever an issue with something that happened on the track, or a call was made and you try to talk to someone about it, you get told "if you dont like it, theres the gate", or you get told "oh well, im just going off of what i was told". So...you then have to find someone else that will care about what you say, only to find out you have to make some kind of appointment to talk to someone. By that point its not worth it and you just got shafted, whether it be out of money, a position, or points. So excuse me for hating that track and thinking the way they run things is BS!!!

We have a beginner class, intermediate classes and premier classes to appeal to everyone that loves racing. all anyone can ask is that you try. no one has all the answers all the time or even at the right time. hind sight is great, but it only helps if what comes of it can be applied in a future situation. you are never going to make everyone happy, but you knew the job was dangerous when you took it! even if everyone can not be totally happy, if they at least feel someone is looking out for them it helps. if i doged you a bit it is just because i can be a bit persitent at times. "I think the races need to be started earlier especially if they are on a Saturday night and then if the heat races and B- main take a long time to complete then they should just be called earlier because people go to a sprint car race to mainly see the A main."

I agree with sprintcarkelly on this point. I don't mean at just Petaluma but everywhere for Saturday night shows.
