J J takes over the ASCS National points lead Friday night in Texarkana by flying thru the field from 18th to finish 3rd. Man, woulda liked to have seen that! He also was helped in the points by the fact Gary Wright had problems and finished 20th. Also, for those wondering where Passmore was, he finished 9th in Texarkana.
Oh yeah, btw, Gary "5*" Taylor won - his first Nat'l Tour victory - and Wayne Johnson was 2nd.
Speedweeks is here!!
Let's Go Racin'!!

Why in the hell would you not run the champs with that show. I am bringing a puzzle for the intermission, ya know one of those big enough to put on the wall, should have plenty of time to do it.

Fan what is July 25? If you are thinking about the ASCS here in the city during speedweeks then you are off by a week. They are here the 18th of July.

LOL
I say that because which show will be better. I'm being serious as hell too.
you got ascs national, mods, and factory stocks. for 20$
the following week of july 25th - we have supers, champs, mods, and pros - for 10 BUCKS!
I did not have dates mixed up - seriously our weekly show is twice as good for half the price. its really not anything against ascs - I've always liked them and the races they have put on. but lanny should have had 3 support classes with speedweek. not everyone is in love with ascs at sfs. especially when we get double the car count for our weekly show, prob triple the quality of racing - and all for half the cost of an ascs show.
so no dates mixed up - if you were at the may 9th fiasco - then you know that I'm being serious when I say that all my anticipation is for the 25th - track conditions allowing it will be twice as good a show for half the price of the speedweek show. the only plus side to the speedweek show is it is going to be EASY to score the fantasy league - almost too easy - painfully easy. this really is one week where I wish there was another good race going on somewhere else in the state. like an ocrs wings on wings off show or a 5k to win modified show or SOMETHING.

o yeah the sprint bandit show here in august.
yeah that should be a doozy. i do wonder how many mods they will get. the non-pts. part of it could hurt as much as it helps. we'll just have to see. I'd say 45 mods on the high end. that would be great. low 30's on the low end. i think it being on a wednesday might hurt it too.
i bet lanny is waiting to see how this goes before he commits to a purse or details for the USA Mod show in october. but this aint even criticism. I bet that will be a good race. depending on how many 410's show up. 45 ran creek last year - with all the big names too. i dont think they will get that - I think 35 would be the high end - and thats awesome. I just hope it doesn't get down to around 20. if car count is anything like creek last year - - - wow is all I have to say about it.

My fault on post about the modifieds above. It is a regular points race with regular purse for modifieds on Friday night with the ASCS speedweeks. I was thinking already about the Sprint Bandit Tour 'N Topless wingless sprints in August where modifieds are competing for $1000 to win. Sorry bout that but thought about it when I was in the shower of all places.

lol. dude I'll forget like really important things - and I always seem to remember them when mowing of all things.
yep good for Gary Wright - although not good for Wright that Jason Johnson finishes right behind him in 2nd. but really good for Travis Rilat - for as I understand it the way Wheatley's column was written - his continued presence throughout speedweek is contingent on how he finishes each race - so a 3rd place tonight should make it a lock at Creek on Monday. I was thinkin bout goin up there with my nephew since we have went to the last 2 Creek speedweek shows ------ creek had close to 30 for their sooner region show - throw in about 10 more from the nat. tour and maybe a couple ark, MO, or KS guys - especially since NCRA rained out tonight - - - I think they could get up to 40. I say just 40 because it is a monday night race - so some may not be able to make it. If the locals show out anything relative to how they did for the sooner show - that with the nat tour would make close to 35. anything from there would be contingent on NCRA guys - WoW guys - Texas drivers (dfw or gulf south) - and also how many go from SFS. I hope Joe Wood Jr. does. and the 3 Barksdales too. not sure if Danny Jennings would - it would be cool if he did tho. Andy Shouse too.and others ------- some of our guys take their SFS motors down to lawton and run against ascs ------- by all means creek aint much different - in fact lawton is probably faster than creek. so thats why I hope maybe a half dozen or so of our guys go run up there. I know Joe Wood and Danny have ASCS motors - and Shouse at least did do not know about now. but you could take a sfs motor up to creek and prob still be really competitive.
its hard to say which way it will go. I'd think they will have at least 25 - but they could have upwards of 40-45 if some guys from the places I just mentioned - and locals too - show up. i would think brian mcclelland would run it. sherman david, passmore, maybe branchcomb too. Larkin probably. there just no tellin - but its fun to speculate...
