Cody Myers races to 3rd place finish at Silver Dollar Speedway

Chico, CA – June 27, 2008…After a season filled with tough luck early on Browns Valley’s Cody Myers looks to have finally turned the corner as he brought home a third place finish for the second Friday in a row at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico.
A smoke filled day brought 16 wingless sprint cars to the quarter-mile bullring on Friday and the Myers Brothers Racing Team looked to make up ground in the John Padjen Motorsports point standings. The night began strong with Cody charging from his fifth starting spot in the opening heat race to get up and finish runner-up aboard the Browns Valley Truck & RV, Aces Heavy Transport No. 9.
Brother Mason came into the night sitting third in the point standings and hoped to chop away at the point spread, but while running third in his heat race an issue took him out of the running and left him with an eighth place finish. It forced Mason to start from the last position in the main event and he would run a handful of laps before pulling off the track and putting a tough end to the night.
With the number eight pill being drawn for the main event inversion, it put Cody on the outside of the third row in the feature. The well prepared racing surface saw one of the best races of the season as multiple grooves gave drivers a number of lines to work with. Cody charged up into third early on and hounded the top two for much of the race. Any mistake by the leaders and Cody would have the shot he needed. That opportunity didn’t come however, and he was forced to settle for a third place at the checkered flag.
Next up for the Myers Brothers Racing Team will be the special 4th of July show at the Silver Dollar Speedway next Friday night. Mason will go into the event looking to change up his luck after back to back tough outings and Cody will look to continue the momentum built up from the last couple weekends. “We seem to be right on the edge of winning a race and hopefully we have all that bad luck behind us,” Cody said during the night.
