I seen a lot about the sprint cars...was wondering how many midgets are they expecting and how many drivers will be doing double duty racing both a sprint car and a midget??

I spoke with Socal Performance's Steve Howard last night @ the PAS and he stated that he is now working on lap money for the midgets. Also according to Howard he has raised $26K for tow money and additional purse money for the sprinters. Racer3XC we got to me Greg Sowers last night as he was passing out Calistoga flyers to the fans as they entered the track. He said he was headed for the pits to talk to car owners and drivers about Calistoga. The new flyer looks great, but someone had also posted another flyer that also looked very nice. This flyer was available to race fans at the souvenir stand. That flyer was posted on one of the men's bathrooms.

I'll be honest with you....we are nervous! A bunch of people have stuck out there necks with this race and we are doing everything we can to make it a success. It would be so much easier if we were wealthy, because we'd just make it $800 minimum to start the feature and $25,000 to win. The bottom line is that none of us are wealthy enough to do that and the ironic part is that the collective amount of time that Steve Howard, Tommy & Jeanie Hunt, Greg Sowers, The Vermeil's, The Wolleson's, My wife and myself along with countless others would far exceed $25,000 worth of work. We want this race to be successful. USAC doesn't'st usually promote races, so one of the reasons we are asking people to order tickets in advance is to reduce a bit of stress there. The other reason is that we do feel this race will sell out and we'd hate for someone to travel from far away and have to watch it from the pit area. We are planning so much activity in the stands that you won't want to miss out on.

Steve Howard is doing a spectacular job raising money. I don't know how he has time to do this and run his business, but I can only imagine that he must be well respected in the racing community for people to support him this way.

The rest of us will keep doing what we can to make more flyer's and get people excited.

We are hoping and praying for a packed house, a safe race and an exciting finish!

So buy your tickets today and spread the word!

You guys are doing great and I am sure that it will be a huge success. Thanks for all that you and everyone have done in making the race happen. I will be buying tickets from Steve in early August.

That's what I want to hear! Jason is a veteran racer and I wish him the best at Calistoga.
