The unofficial report from the pits at Perris is that 23 cars will be coming from Southern Cal to Calistoga.

Wow Mr. RACERXC3, you are truly an insider. Do you, by chance, have a list of these 23 drivers? LOL, I try not to read about the upcoming race because it just gets me fired up, and we still have about 7 weeks to go. It should be a great event. Let us hope that some of those USAC National guys show up to make things all the better.

Here is the unofficial list of drivers that I have so far.
Mike Spencer (#50)
Danny Sheridan (#18)
Blake Miller (#93)
Garrett Hansen (#7)
Tyler Brown (#96)
Josh Ford (#73)
Allan Ballard (#75)
Andy Forsburg (teammates to Allan Ballard)
David Cardey (#38)
Darron Clayton (teammates to David Cardey)
Jimmy Crawford (#51)
Cory Kruseman (#21K)
Austin Mero (#71K)
Henry Clarke (#41K)
Alex Schutte (#5K)
Nic Faas (#17F)
Bill Rose (#66)
Eric Severson (#48)
Ronnie Case (#8)
Rip Williams (#3)
Cody Williams (#44)
Seth Wilson (#17)
#92 car (Tom and Laurie Sertich) - going but don't have a driver
Tony Jones (#4) - ? - undecided still
Other possible car owners that might run more than one car or that have before.
Gardner Motorsports - Rickie is not going and I don't believe Nadine is going to race either
Mark Priestley - sometimes they have run 2 cars
Glenn Crossno - sometimes runs 2 or 3 cars
Ford - sometimes runs 2 cars
There might be a few other smaller teams that will end up going too, but are really undecided at this point.

Yes Radrobinlb, Racerx3c truly is an insider. Racerx3c has been running around going the extra mile to help make this event truly special. If he knows more about this event than you don't take it to personal. LOL.

My wife and I sponsor Tony Jones and the Alexander team and we have been busy raising money so that the team can make the Calistoga races. So based on that I am pretty sure that Jones will be there. Thanks Racerx3c for all that you have done to promote this great event.

No, I truly appreciate Racerx3c's work. I was not being sarcastic. I'm probably not alone when I say that the list he has provided is fabulous. I was particularly surprised to see Darren Clayton's name running one of Crosno's car, that should be great. Once again, thanks Racerx3c.

Yikes! A rivalry is brewing between the south and the north. What a race!

I spoke to Brent Kaeding a couple of days ago and he said he will run the Vermeil Classic. Brent holds the long standing track record of 20.212 for non-wing sprint cars at Calistoga. The record was held by Gary Patterson for 10 years that he set in a Walt Ross car that I believe had a leaf spring front end. (can anybody confirm that, because I might be wrong?) Anyway, Brent broke the record at the "Gary Patterson Memorial" early in the 1985 NARC season when guys were transitioning from the old Goodyear double-diamond right rear tire to what they called a "Humper". Brent won 6 Calistoga feature events that year. Of the remaining 5 Calistoga Races, Dave Bradway Jr won 2, Jac Haudenschild won 2 (including the last Vermeil Classic), and RC Ron Horton picked off the other one. Brent is and has always been one of those drivers who could win with and without the wing. He's run everything from midgets to champ cars and even drove a Winston Cup Car with the help of a pretty well known stock car legend. Brent said he's not sure about his boys. There is a champ car race in DuQuoin Illinois that Bud might run one night and Tim has a brand new deal in the Beef Packers Jr. car that might take him out of state as well. I for one think it would be awesome and fitting to see all three Kaedings run at Calistoga since any one of them could walk away with the win and a new track record with the same last name.

Some other GSC regulars that are planning on racing without the wing include Kyle Larson, Andy Forsberg, Mike Benson, Sparky Howard and Terry Shank.

I'll try to keep you posted as news comes in

I seen a lot about the sprint cars...was wondering how many midgets are they expecting and how many drivers will be doing double duty racing both a sprint car and a midget??

I'll be honest, I don't know very much about the midget scene. I'm not sure who to call to get an idea of who's coming?
