Jimmy Pettit runs 5th at Skyway Tools Night in Chico

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA – June 24, 2008…Chico’s Jimmy Pettit put together a solid evening of racing this past Friday during the special Skyway Tool Center Night at the Silver Dollar Speedway and capped it off with a fifth place finish in the main event.

Pettit was a major player in bringing Skyway Tool Night to the Silver Dollar Speedway and everyone involved considered it a success. “I just want to thank Troy Hennig, John & Robbie Padjen, Ed Kinkel, Jerry Divecchia and the entire staff at John Padjen Motorsports for making the event a success,” Pettit said.

A 22 car wingless field was on hand for the evening and Pettit kicked off the show by qualifying fourth fastest aboard the Skyway Tool Center, Kevin Sharrah Designs No. 24p. A runner-up finish in the third heat race then transferred him into the main event where he started from the fourth position.

Pettit ran a smooth and consistent feature race and was able to bring the Pep Boys, Pro Machine Racing Engines sprinter home in the fifth position, scoring his fifth top five of the year in the Feather Falls Casino point season. “Myself, Doug & Sherry Gillis of Skyway Tool Center, Makita Power Tools, S-K Hand Tools, & Chicago Pneumatic all had a blast and are looking forward to making the event even bigger and better next year,” Pettit stated.

In addition to the regular events held during the night, a special Dash for Tools was held for the top six in points and was won by Taylor Simas. In the dash Pettit finished fourth and a total of $1,000 worth of power tools were handed out to the drivers. “We hope the wingless teams and drivers had a great night and certainly hope all the fans enjoyed the tool and shirt giveaways courtesy of Skyway Tool Center,” he concluded.

This coming Friday will find Pettit and the Ron Kalpakoff tuned No. 24p in action at the Silver Dollar Speedway during Riebe’s Auto Parts Night. “I’m ready to get back at it already and we’re definitely going to be looking for another win this Friday."
