This could be an incredible night of racing, and the perfect date has been picked.
Why is July 30 the perfect date, you ask?
The 360 Nationals begin the next night. A number of those guys could come in with a 360 (which have and can beat 410s at 34) or even put in a 410 and try to pick up a larger-than-normal paycheck.
The All Stars also begin their Kansas swing July 31. Once again, a number of those guys could swing through and try to pick up a big payday. I imagine 34 is very similar to some of the tracks seen in Ohio, so those guys could come off the trailer fast.
The IRA show in May was incredible. Tons of passing on a slicked off track that drivers could run any line on. Talking to some of the WoO guys in the pits afterwards (including Pittman, Lasoski, McCarl and Hafertepe), all of them were extremely pleased with the track and its "racy-ness".
Toss in the Knoxville 410s and upper midwest 410s that might make the trip, and you could easily have 60 cars in the pits. If I recall correctly, the 2007 IRA show that was rained out had a ton of cars coming (60+).
Throw in the 305 weekly show that 34 runs as a support class (which I've never seen, but heard is super competitive and always good racing), and this will be a great show.
Once again, thanks to Jeff and Amy Laue for their dedication to get 410 sprint cars back at 34. The area is starved for the 410s, and I imagine the people will come out in droves.
I can't wait.
