I've been wandering about track sponsorship lately. I'll try and keep this post to minimum and follow it up later. I just wander about several things of it.
like why doesn't sfs have more sponsorship? now this is a tricky question - because they may have more than any other in the state. the billboards and stuff in the infield sure. but there is a ton of room throughout the structure - like breezeways - the towers in the infield - the front straightwall - I mean LOTS. Does anyone know specifics of track sponsorship? Like how much is paid to the track to have those big ol signs in the infield. this is just something I find interesting. I wonder how often promoters actively seek track sponsorship.....
it could be that most sponsor - maybe buy time - like plugs - ya know the announcer mentioning them - as opposed to billboard space. I just thought we could get a heck of a positive thread going about something - and this seems like a decent topic to seek info and opinions. IMO I think its cool that sfs has the sponsors it does - the more the merrier of course. but the chuck house hard charger thing is really cool. in fact since me and my pop are regs at the track - we decided to support a business that supports the track and ate there sunday for father's day. but with all the criticism throw Lanny Edwards direction - for once I'm gonna commend him on the stuff he been having out front of the grandstand on many fridays. the AAA nascar thing was REALLY COOL. actually they have had a few different things this year - seems more so than in years past. so 2 thumbs up for Lanny on that. I it is cool for the fans to have different promotional things like that. in fact, I think it would be great if there were more. so another question - what stuff sounds cool to ya'll? like promotional stuff and things like that? I think it would be cool if there was some more sponsorship for the purse. it might take a few sponsors together to really make a difference - but I think its something worth discussing even though we aint in charge of that. Just as a fan I'm grateful for those businesses that sponsor the track........I'm far more likely to do business with them than others for that very reason. For all the complaining I do on the "direction of the track" - I think some of the things Lanny does is positive and noteworthy. my nephew really liked the AAA Nascar they had out there - made his night right there at the start. It was cool and Lanny should do more stuff like it. the bike nights are cool too. man they had a ton of em a few weeks ago. so what are some other things or additional things the track could do - in ya'lls opinion?
sorry if I didn;t explain this out better - it may be too early to be constructive but it would be nice to have a positive thread for all to be involved in.

A lot of businesses are suffering just as everyone else is right now. For tax purposes, they also have to watch how much they spend on advertising. Also, many businesses may not of been asked. In general the whole economy sucks right now. You wouldn't believe how many calls a day I get asking prices or how many service calls we do that the people pay us to show up to check things out, but then can't afford the parts needed to fix their ac's. It's really sad and we feel bad for the people, but we have to be able to cover our fuel expense and the rising cost of parts. We also understand they have to be able to feed their family. It's a chain reaction that affects everyone and it really sucks.
As for what more could be done at the track....not sure. All the little extra's and fund raisers are neat. Here's a funny idea for another fund raiser...How about have a tricycle race with some of the drivers in front of the grandstands to raise money for children's shelters or autism, ect. I just think it would be fun to watch the drivers taken out of their car & class to have some fun themselves as equals.

LMAO cheese! I think Lanny could probably make a pretty good amount of money if he brought his two seater sprintcar up from devils bowl a couple times or maybe once a month or something and raffled off rides in that. I think that would be pretty cool.

thats some pretty funny stuff there Springer and Cheese.....
i think lanny should do something. it may not be a critical situation. i just dont know. but i do know the moos rather subdued sometimes - more than it used to be. when you get to the track and the pits look a lil light (like when there are only 3 classes - or just 1 sprint class) - it starts it off a lil down. maybe not for everyone ya know. but they dont have to keep shooting shirts that never make it past halfway in the stands. i still think bringin a different class out every week to talk and introduce themselves and mention their sponsor would be cool. for a lot of reasons. hell with the car count what it is - why not just bring em all out .... thats one of the most diappointing that I as a fan feel about SFS. its a win-win situation for everyone.
but like i said - the things lanny had out front of the track were really neat - he should do more kinda like it during the show too. folks are gettin antsy during the intermission - there really aint much racin before it. so if during that intermission - they did some cool things like that - again it would be a win-win situation. everyone would still go get food and drink that want it. in fact - the shirts go against his hot dog break because to get it you have to be in your seat! so to do some cool stuff on the track during intermission would be following his own logic.............

I agree on the drivers deal everyweek. I think Lanny should have 1 driver from each class EVERY Friday for introduction and autograph signing (never the same driver twice.) Start with top ten and work down the list giving all drivers a chance to be introduced and recognized. Have the drivers sign autographs and right before they hand out trophies, introduce the 4 drivers for that night.
Benefits: Fan appreciation. Sponsors get recognized. Gives all drivers a chance to be recognized even if they don't win a race.
We have had a few nights a season that Kinko's sponsored autograph night and provided hero cards for the 4 driver's selected (I don't know who did the driver selecting.)

Here's my 2 cents:
CCC should follow Lanny around on a Friday from 7 am till 1 am Sat. morning and then he can get on here and give us the inside scoop on "My Day with Lanny"
Yep I can see it now Lanny in the water truck one hand on the wheel, the other on the horn ready to lay on it for all who get in the way, and the right foot firmly on the loud pedal of the water truck and CCC ridin Shotgun getting an education , Hell wait , that happens on Sat. at Lawton,Dammit!
Oh Well, I'm sure CCC would have a great time hangin with Lanny no matter if it was Friday or Saturday and then he could get on here and give us all a 20 to 25 paragraph response of "My Day with Lanny" The Inside Scoop ,
Just a side note: IF POLITICS are discussed during "My Day with Lanny" CCC response could be an all time record of 50 paragrphs or more.
