After opening weekend of racing Team 292 Inc. looks for good things in Quincy/Andy Forsberg to appear on Full Throttle Racing Show on Tuesday

By Gary Thomas

Calistoga, CA – June 16, 2008…Following the inaugural weekend of competition in Chico and Calistoga, the newly formed Team 292 Inc. will look pick up some momentum this coming Saturday night at the American Valley Speedway in Quincy. Before that however, an appearence on the Full Throttle Racing Show this Tuesday night will take place to give more info on the new 292 Inc. Racing Team.

Team 292 Inc. was formed recently between the teams of Andy Forsberg and Willie Croft to help give each a better advantage on a weekly basis as both will lend a hand to one another, in addition to sharing knowledge. “I’m looking forward to the new alliance and think it will be a great thing and could be something other teams might look into,” crew chief Brian Cannon said.

The new team debuted on Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway with Forsberg as the lone driver, due to Croft waiting on a new 410 car after a hard crash the previous Friday. Going into the evening Forsberg sat atop the Feather Falls Casino point standings and was able to extend that advantage with a strong night of racing.

A field of 21 winged sprint cars was on hand Friday night and the Auburn driver kicked off the event by qualifying fast time with a lap of 11.848 aboard the A & A Stepping Stone, GP Development No. 92. A third place finish in the opening heat then put Forsberg into the main event where he started from the fourth position.

The former Silver Dollar Speedway track champ got a good start when the green flag waved on the 25 lap feature and was up to second by the time a lap had been completed. Forsberg hung with early leader Mark Hall and got the opportunity he needed around the midway point to put the K & N Filters No. 92 into the lead of the race.

After this Forsberg sat out in front before having to deal with a fast moving Tim Kaeding late in the race. Kaeding tried everything to get by and on the final lap as both drivers were going for the win off turn four they banged wheels and Forsberg crossed the line in first to pick up the ultra exciting win. With the victory he extended his lead in the Silver Dollar Speedway standings to 22 over second place Sean Becker.

On Saturday, Team 292 Inc. headed for the big Calistoga Speedway half-mile to do battle with the California Civil War 360 Series. The evening got off to a good start as Forsberg timed in third quickest and Willie Croft scored fifth fastest in the talented 38 car field.

Croft lined-up in the third row during the night’s opening heat race and charged forward to pick up a second place finish aboard the Holey Smokes BBQ, LRB Manufacturing No. 29. Forsberg likewise started in the third row of his heat and was able to move forward to tally a third place finish to also transfer out of the heat.

With the number eight pill being pulled for the inversion it put both Croft and Forsberg in the fourth row for the evening’s 20 lap Civil War Series main event. Right from the get go it was apparent that Croft had a fast race car and he was able to get all the way up to third until looping it in the treacherous turn four area. He restarted, but had a steering issue and would be involved in another incident to put the Amerikote, BR Motorsports No. 29 out of the race.

Forsberg didn’t have the kind of run he would have wanted as he brought the Western Featherlite sprinter home in the ninth position, but the car rolled into the trailer in one piece and kept him within striking distance of the Civil War Series point lead. After the night of racing in Calistoga Forsberg sits in a tie for third in the standings and Croft currently rounds out the top five in the points.

Team 292 Inc. will now head for the Civil War Series event at the American Valley Speedway in Quincy this Saturday night. It will be the very first visit for the traveling 360 sprint car club to the 3/8 mile dirt oval, but it’s also the site of one of Croft’s biggest career accomplishments. The driver known as “Double Down” led all 30 laps of the main event in June of last year to pick up his second career Golden State Challenge Series victory. Croft's previous GSC win came in 2004 when he won the Mini Gold Cup in Chico.

Full Throttle Show appearance:

Team 292 Inc. driver Andy Forsberg will be a guest this Tuesday night on John Katich’s Full Throttle Racing Show. “Mr. Excitement” will be discussing his great season to date, which includes leading the Silver Dollar Speedway points and winning a total of six main events so far this season. Forsberg will also talk about the newly formed 292 Inc. as well as his career in general. To access the Full Throttle Racing Show log onto
