Cody Myers charges from 13th to 4th in Chico

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA – June 13, 2008…Browns Valley’s Cody Myers raced to his best finish in a handful of weeks at the Silver Dollar Speedway by charging from 13th to 4th in the main event this past Friday night. The racing surface was one of the best seen this season and the racing showed that in the 20 lap feature.

The 11th Feather Falls Casino point race in Chico was sponsored by local business Chico Volkswagen owned by Mark Abozeid and a total of 17 wingless sprint cars were on hand.

Both Cody and Mason Myers were in the second of two heats with both starting one after another in rows three and four. After an accident between the front row starters delayed action for a number of minutes, things got back underway and Cody drove the Aces Heavy Transport No. 9 up into fourth with Mason claiming fifth aboard the Browns Valley RV No. 3m.

The 20 lap main event was run on a well prepared racing surface and Mason had a tough go of it as he got over another cars right rear early on and was forced to go to the rear of the field. After restarting, Mason was driving back up through the field and had made it up to ninth when another incident occurred as he hopped another right rear putting him out of the race.

Cody lined up 13th in the main event and was on the charge right from the get go and had gotten up to eighth by lap four and then fifth by lap six. The hooked up racing surface saw some great racing among the top five and Cody sliced his way to fourth on lap 18 where would go on and finish fourth aboard the Franks Backhoe No. 9.

It was a great night for Cody to put together a full race and get a solid finish after a few weeks of tough luck. Brother Mason looked to be on way to another strong one as well, but it was just one of those nights and he’ll look for good things next Friday during Skyway Tools Night at the Silver Dollar Speedway.
