we are hoping to make the trip up to knoxville next weekend to the midget nationals. we comin from west of Oklahoma City. with gas prices as they are we're thinkin of this with a shoestring budget. so i got a couple question that mayne some of ya'll could help me with.

Rainout. There is a 60% chance of rain next friday - which sucks but what i really need to know is .......................if friday or saturday rained out how would they make it up. run double shows saturday. or just push back to a sat. sun. race? most what we are coming to see are the 360's on friday - as we think that with midgets will be a hell of a show - only rivaled by the saturday finales of the 360 nationals. but anyhow - how would they do that?

also - goin with the shoestring budget. hotels have figured out anything with the word nationals on it is a good time to raise the crap out of prices - so they are all sky high. what are some other options around that area? we've thought of camping - but with needing to buy the gear would almost be more xpensive than a room. i always read of a ton of different things on here - other options i mean - but that was during the 410 nationals - doubt if it is the same for next weekend. with lake red rock surely flooding - where are other places to camp? what all other options are there for a couple from Sooner Land?

and also - my prayers to all those in the upper midwest suffering through the tornadoes and the torrential rainfall. i hope the situation improves very soon.

No worries about price gouging for the midget nationals, motels should be same price as usual, you should be able to stay somewhere in Pella I'm guessing, which is 12 miles away. Camping is readily available at the fairgrounds campground for 10 bucks a night, plenty of room there for this event. I suspect if it rains out friday's event then there will be no make-up, but you never know with cappy....lastly, don't fret over a weather forecast for that far in the future, no one has any idea.....

June 20th is over a week away. Lately, they haven't been able to predict anything beyond a day or two.

In 2005, the Friday night show was run (pretty awesome too, Brad Kuhn came from 15th to 2nd), but rained Saturday and they didn't postpone or anything, just cancelled.

In 2006, they got the races in on Friday, and Saturday it was shaping up to be an awesome night - but rained. They got in everything but the 410 feature and the midget B and A Mains - so postponed the show to Sunday late afternoon.

Last year, rained on Friday so they ran a make-up King Doodlebug program on Saturday as well as qualifiers for the midget nationals program.

So in short, who knows what they'll do. Hopefully the rain stays away though, will be a great weekend of racing if it does!

Last year Friday was cancelled with tornado's in the area and tons of rain. If I recall right they did try to run sort of a double show on Saturday---busted their humps to get the track ready. It was a great show

A long time ago, I was able to rent camping gear from a local rental center. I got the whole shebang - tents, sleeping bags, camp stove, lantern. I did have to buy fuel for the stove/lantern... Way cheaper than buying, at the time....
