RWJ Motorsports Race Report

5-30-08 & 5-31-08

The RWJ Motorsports team ventured into the familiar confines of Ocean Speedway Friday night May, 30th to run with against the best California has to offer; The Golden State Challenge 410 series. The evening started out well, the team times in with a respectable 12th quick and backed that up with a fourth place finish in the heat. The main event did not go exactly as planned. Ricky was able to get a good start, but during a battle for position Ricky was shuffled back a few spots. While trying to bring the #35, Wright One Industries, Maxey Tile, and Swimming Pool Perfections family owned Maxim to the front, Ricky tangled with another car landing him upside down. The team was done for the night, credited with a 16th place finish.

Looking to rebound from Friday night's misfortune, the entire RWJ team led by Jeff Delte, was ready for battle Saturday night in Petaluma. Ricky and the team have been strong so far this year when at Petaluma, and Saturday night would be no different. Ricky started the night off by timing in 5th quick, and was sure to back that up with a transfer spot in the heat. The feature came around fast and the RWJ team found themselves with a pole starting spot. Ricky fell short of the battle with fellow front row started, Shawn Arriaga, but managed to bring home his career best 2nd place finish. Ricky would like to thank his team, led by his mother and father, Jeff Delte and the folks that help keep this car running strong; Wright One Industries, Maxey Tile, Swimming Pool Perfections, Kaeding Performance, Butler Built Seats, and all of the fans for supporting the team" said Ricky. "We had a great run on Saturday and hope to keep it going; hopefully this is the start of a good stretch for us." Ricky and the team are prepared to return to Ocean Speedway Friday night, June 06, 2008 for another round of Wright One 360 Sprint car action, and on Saturday the team plans to return to Petaluma Speedway for the Golden State Challenge series.
