(The views and opinions expressed in the Big J Report does not need to be taken too seriously)
410s (22 Cars)
Welcome Mat No new 410s but Dude (5), Dover (53), Maeschen (96), Tatnell (11AU) all stuck around.
MIA From last night: Clint Ganer, Gary DeWall, Marlon Jones, Ryan Anderson Billy Alley, Dusty Zomer, Bobby Bell
VIP Empty after the Dude triumph last night. Too much late night partying I'm guessing for VIP members.
Time Trials (1 lap each) Dobmeier (13) had to switch to the backup car again during hot laps and brought out the Knoxville car. Cressman (56) lost a cylinder as well in hot laps and scratched for the night.
Henderson (D1) set quick time at 11.318, the slowest quick time of the year, on a fading track. Peters (57x) was 2nd quick at 11.335. The rest of the top 18 that made the heat race invert: Winters (23w), Dobmeier, Dover, Lambertz (12L), Nygaard (9N), Dude, Bakker (11x), Tatnell, Maeschen, Schliemann (4), Jeffrey (12), Miller (24M), Vogelaar (33), Runge (28), Meyer (1w), Rosenboom (6), Ballenger (2D).
Time Trials Grade: C; not the greatest track to qualify on as it was pretty choppy in the turns. But the rest of the night did look promising for the A feature.
Heats (Top 6 Inverted from TT, Top 6 to the A with Top 4 Inverted in the A) Starting Positions in Parenthesis
Heat 1 Finish: Tatnell (3), Ballenger (7), Dobmeier (5), Runge (1), Henderson (6), Jeffrey (2 DNF), Nygaard (4), Cressman (DNS) Heat 1 Notes: Red flag to start the heat as it looked like the 9N of Nygaard got into the back of Jeffrey coming off of 4. Those 2 got mangled and Henderson decided to join the pile, with all coming to a rest on the front stretch and no one getting upside down. Jeffrey had front end damage, looked like the same for Nygaard and neither restarted. Henderson's crew changed a front end during the red and got back out but he was awfully slow. Tatnell checked out on the complete restart.
Heat 2 Finish: Dude (4), Dover (5), Peters (6), Meyer (1), Maeschen (3), McGillivray (7), Miller (2)Heat 2 Notes: Miller took off with the lead on the high side and was going to win the heat until he put it in the wall on the white flag lap in 1 & 2. The frame was pretty bent up on the front and he was done for the night. Dover got by Peters on the start and this was mostly a single file affair on the high side.
Heat 3 Finish: Vogelaar (2), Bakker (4), Winters (6), Rosenboom (1), Schliemann (3), Lambertz (5), Bickett (7) Heat 3 Notes: Vogelaar took off with the lead on the start and was able to hold off Bakker and Winters, whom was all over the tail tank of the 11x but couldn't execute a pass.
Heat Grades: C+; Not much of a bottom over in 3 & 4 but it could be ran over in 1 & 2. Just not a whole lot of excitement outside the start on the 1st heat race.
B Feature (Top 4 Tag the A) No B Feature tonight as only 21 cars were able to time and only 20 started the A after Miller crashed.
B Feature Grade: N/A
A Feature (25 Laps) Starting Order: 11x 5 53 13 23w 57x 11AU 33 28 1w/ 6 2D D1 96 4 101 12L 12 9N 17B/ 24M (DNS) 56
Initial start was good with the Dude taking off with the lead on the high side of the track. Before he could get to lap traffic Vogelaar spun out in turn 4 by himself on the end of lap 2. The Dude showed how good his car was on the starts as he pulled away from Bakker on the restart until Bakker endured motor issues on lap 6 by stopping on the front chute. He did not return. It was Dude leading Dobmeier to that restart and the Dude was absolutely gone after that with rubber starting to set in around lap 10. Winters & Dover swapped spots a few times before it became a choo-choo. Winters was all over the back of Dobmeier the rest of the race but couldn't do anything with the rubber that was laid. Lasoski got by a few lapped cars and won by a straightaway for the Memorial Day Weekend sweep of Huset's. $5,000 weekend for the Forbrook team but it doesn't sound like they'll be back until the Outlaw show on June 13. Dude led all 25 laps.
Finish: 5 13 23w 53 57x 1w 11AU D1 28 4/ 2D 12 6 96 12L 33 101 11x 9N 17B
A Feature Grade: F; on the track conditions as the Huset's crowd (which was very minute compared to Sunday night with the chilly skies and work looming the next morning). No grader was used during intermission again and yet again it led to a rubber-downed track come A feature time. But it was great to see the Dude enter victory lane again for feature win #40 in his career at the track.
360s (18 cars) Rosenboom came from 8th to pass the early leader Cody Hansen on lap 9. He had the car dialed in big time and there really was no catching him even though Kevin Flowers kept up for the last 4 laps or so. A lapped car and Hansen got together when Hansen was in 2nd with those 4 laps to go with Hansen hitting the inside front stretch wall and doing a tumble, he was uninjured. Rosenboom led the last 10 laps and was followed across the line by Flowers, Dump, E. McGillivray and Glennon.
FOAW: Can't really give one away tonight as the track conditions wouldn't warrant me to do so. Dover & Winters look to have a very bright future in the sport. Hope to see Dover up a few more times throughout the year as well.
Crowd Pleasing Moment: Not much for a crowd pleasing moment other than the Dude dominating again. The Report is still laughing hard after "the wave" given by Wertz in the VIP section last night.
WTF: All the machinery that was torn up this weekend. There just seems to weekends like this and hopefully this is the last of all torn up equipment.
"Home of the Professionals" Moment of the Night: No grader during intermission to even out the track. Hindsight is 20/20 but it seems like this needs to be done every night in order to have a good racing surface come the A.
Head Scratcher: Took awhile to find one and it isn't much as it ended up working out in the end, but the Dude timing in at 8th… don't think they really care about that right now.
Thumbs Up: We're giving our thumbs up to the tow trucks tonight. Very quick and right on the scene when an accident occurred. These guys finally got their ducks in a row with the 2 tow-truck effort.
Thumbs Down: Pretty boring races throughout with the amount of wrecks in the bodied cars again. Good thing the Report has a season pass given at a discount because the show wasn't worth the $12 at the gate.
Prime Mover: Schliemann had something on the bottom before the rubber was laid and he came 15th to 9th.
Trophy Queen Grade: N/A as there were no queens, you can go ahead and give a grade for the only other person who was in the photos outside of the driver (Clark) and I'll leave that to you.
Stat of the Night: Scott Winters is leading the 410 division with 35 total cars passed in the A features in the 5 nights of racing. Also, 3 of those nights came with a 360 under the hood.
