Friday night May 16th at Ocean Speedway saw Ricky Wright qualify the family owned car 7th quick in a field of 23 cars. After a struggle in the heat race Ricky found himself on the outside pole for the feature along side veteran hot shoe Ronnie Day. A mid race altercation found Ricky spun between turns three & four ending his bid for a top five run. Ricky made up a few spots from the rear to bring the car home with a 17th place finish. Ricky and the team will be returning to Ocean Speedway Friday night May 30, 2008 to run with the Golden State Challenge 410 series.
Saturday night saw the 35 team travelling to Petaluma where Ricky currently sits 4th in the championship standings. The night seemed to be all "fives" as Ricky timed in fifth quick, and followed it up with a fifth place run in the heat. Ricky found himself in a tenth place starting spot in the feature. With some patience and determination Ricky was mounting his charge to the front. At the mid race point, Ricky had already cracked the top five, only to be let down by a set of early checkers. Track officials had elected to call the race due to curfew restrictions. So a solid top five run and a straight race car sent the 35 team home in good spirits. Ricky and the team are taking memorial weekend off , look for more updates soon.
