Kody Kinser Has Tough Weekend!

By Gary Costa

Fremont, OH – May 10, 2008…Kody Kinser had a weekend he'd like to forget. The extreme highs and lows of Sprint car racing bit the 19-year-old shoe from Bloomington, Indiana.

With high hopes of running two races last weekend in Grandfather Jerry Kinser's mount, the high hopes quickly dissipated. The racing weekend started with a Friday rain out at the racy Attica Raceway Park.

The next night brought Kody, Jerry, and Kelly Kinser, who is a former hot shoe and who also serves as crew chief to son Kody, to the Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio.

The evening started out good for the #4K, as Kody ripped around the speedway with a 12.520 and qualified in the 9th spot out of the 27 winged 410 Sprint cars in attendance.

However things would quickly take a turn for the worse. In his heat race, a jamb nut stripped out, and proceeded to take all of the weight off of the front end, sending him into the infield. Not transferring from his heat race would relegate Kody to the "B" main event.

A wild flip in the "B" would await the youngster, and unfortunately sideline him for the rest of the evening, which would also put a period on the tough weekend.

"I'm really bummed out right now." The second generation driver said. "The car was pretty good early in the night, but that's racing. "

Kody will be seeking redemption, as he will be gearing up for 3-days of racing in a 4-day span with the Midwest All Star Series. Stops will include May 23rd at Benton Raceway Park. May 24th at Mt. Vernon Speedway, and Quincy Raceway on May 26th.

The Kinser Racing team would like to thank: Crone Lumber, Kinser Timber, Simpson Racing Products, Hoosier Tire, Real Wheels, TP Wings, Afco Shocks, F&K Rod Ends, Butler Built, Kigers Signs, Outerwear's, Ultra Shield, Kinser Air Filters, Quik Change, Ben Cook Racing Products, NBC Steering, US Brake, Schoenfield Headers, and White River Co-Op.
