It was posted by Gary Thomas earlier today on the Nor-Cal board, and later here, that additional sponsorship monies have been added to the May 25th race, at the Thunderbowl, to entice the teams from the GSC series to take off the wings and run with the USAC/CRA guys. Evidently, This money is available only to the top finishers who took off the wings to run the event. As I was reading this press release the first thing that popped into my mind was the potential car count, as I know USAC/CRA has had dismal showings at it's previous out of town events this very year. I suggested as much to Gary on the Nor-Cal board, and he posted that he was hoping to get about 25 cars, same as last year. My question is this as I know many USAC/CRA teams frequent this message board: Who is planning on making the trip to Tulare this year? And, knowing that some GSC teams are going to take off the wings, will that entice some USAC/CRA teams that probably wouldn't have made the trip to reconsider their decision? I am just trying to get an idea, for I really enjoyed going to the Thunderbowl last year, I thought it was a great venue for sprint car racing.

Spoke with Mark Alexander and asked if they planned to make the Tulare show. He said that he would like to make it, but his brother Steve may have a commitment with his daughter involving a girl's all-star softball game. He said he would find out soon. He likes the track and enjoys running there. Expect the Jones Nation to be out in force if they decide to run at the Thunder Bowl.

One thing Tulare has going for them is the teams really do like racing there and they like Steve Faria (Promoter) as well. As we all know, fuel costs are seriously cutting into car counts. This past Saturday, Devils Bowl Speedway only had 26 for a ASCS National series event. That's pretty low for them and everyone knew it was fuel $$$ that was the culprit. Best of luck in Tulare getting a good car count. Sure wish I was going to be there.

Heard Bud Kaeding will be at this race in the Roth 83jr car.
Shane Golobic will be at ORP racing in a midget, so he will not be at this show.
