I have been away for a time being serving our country. But can anyone tell me what has happened to Clinton. They use to have the Sooner Modified $50,000 to win. I made the first two and then I left out. That was some good racing there in the Mods. Thanks for any input.

man I could say a lot on that. but it would all be opinionated and some of it surely inaccurate. so I'll see if someone else will take a crack at it first.

I went to the Round up you're referring to - not sure what year it was. It was good when there was passing. but that place was notorious for gettin dry and one grooved.

Not sure what track you're going to man... I've seen more passing at Clinton (even when dry) than just about any other track in the state! IMO, the Clinton track has to be one of the raciest tracks in the state! Its a shame its not raced on more.

I like dirt!

when its proper I agree. But the last 3 or 4 races I saw there weren't that way at all. rubber down freight trains on the bottom. c'mon dude - you were probably there.

I won't forget the 04 or 05 winter nationals when they had to cut the first night in half because of rutted up it was..............it was worse than SFS last year when Reed and the other fella hit the ruts and flipped. At Clinton it was like the damn grand canyon. and yeah they had to wait and run the 2nd half as well as the finale the next day - which was damn good by the way. That was the last time I remember them gettin a good count at their winter nationals. I think the last race I went to there was a mod day race. I remember Neighbors was in the B Main the last day. maybe that day just left a bad taste in my mouth. That and my alter ego (CCC) just thought the car count got too low.

In fact, it was Memorial Day 2 years ago. My grandfather is buried in Sentinel in west Oklahoma so we went out there to pay our respects and caught the race on the way back to El Reno. and another thing - most their good races were in the first leg of multi day shows. It was always the finales I went to - and most just weren't that good. Horribly hot day races with long intermissions. I had to sit my nephew in my shadow so he wouldn't get sunburned. lol. My mom said that was what Hutch Grand Nationals were always like - hotter than hell. Man I don't mean to bad mouth that track. You're right when it is racy and one can avoid gettin dustblasted ----- its pretty darn good. Hell I liked it because it was the closest track to me other than SFS. Bout a 40 min drive to Clinton. Bout an hour drive to Enid. Bout an hour + 20 to Lawton. and about an hour + 40 to CCS. Never drove to BMS from El Reno. The only time I went there I was staying the weekend in Chandler.......................

Why is it no one from Enid ever posts results on here btw?

Clinton has had good racing during the modified specials, if you were there to see it.

Last year, a modified series called United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) had leased the track from promoter Joe Madore to host an event. But, somebody informed them that there were not alot of hotels in Clinton (not true) so USMTS backed out.

Now, all that is left at Clinton is enduros, concerts (Cross Canadian Ragweed and others this weekend) and their Winter Nationals at the end of this year.

I won't post why no more big races are being held there, in my opinion.
