5th place finish in Chico highlights weekend for Stephen Allard

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA – April 26, 2008…Defending Silver Dollar Speedway 410 track champion Stephen Allard sat behind the wheel of the 1m Racing sprint car on Friday night for the first time since early March and promptly went out and recorded a top five finish in the 25 lap main event.

The fourth Feather Falls Casino point race of the season at Silver Dollar Speedway featured 24 winged sprint cars in competition during Withrow’s Motorsports & JP’s Paint & Body Works night. Allard hadn’t competed aboard the 1m Racing machine since the Mini Gold Cup and his first night back in the car saw him time in 11th fastest in qualifying.

Allard then brought home a third place finish in his heat race to lock him into the main event where he started from the inside of the sixth row. The Silver Dollar Speedway bullring was prepared to perfection as multiple grooves of racing were seen and the Chico driver was up on the wheel during the 25 lap contest.

Allard progressively moved forward as the race went on and made a late pass of Jason York to put himself into fifth where he would go on to finish aboard the JP’s Paint & Body, Platinum Powder Coating No. 1m. The top five result was a great run for Allard in what was his second start this year during the Friday night series at his home track.

On Saturday Allard made the long drive down to try and compete in the Davey Key No. 86 at the Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway, but engine problems forced him to scratch following heat race action. Allard was running in a transfer spot during his heat when he pulled the car into the infield with a problem in the engine that ultimately put an end to the night.

The upcoming weekend has the possibility to see Allard behind the wheel of the Harold Main owned No. 35a at the Tribute to Al Hinds in Placerville on Saturday. Following Placerville the 35 year-old driver will also be behind the wheel of the H.A.M. Construction sponsored, Lee Watson wrenched JEI No. 35a during the Friday night Feather Falls Casino point race at Silver Dollar Speedway on May 9, in addition to both night’s of the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial weekend on May 16 and 17.

If everything works out some exciting things are expected with Allard and the 35a team so stay tuned to future news and info at
