A tough night to say the least was had by the Newton Motorsports team Friday night. With an early qualifying draw, and a tight race car the team timed in terrible and were behind the "eight ball" all night long. The car was alright according to Jason in the heat race but, he was unhappy with his performance and it seemed to show in the end result. The guys went to work to give Jason a car to drive for the feature; they knew that starting that deep in the field was going to be a tall task. As things would work out, it just wasn't their night. Jason tried everything he could to move that car toward the front, and the harder he tried the further back he went. Safe to say, we missed it on this night. The best part of the night was that Jason guided the car back to the trailer in one piece. So........we live to race on again. We'll get back to the shop and get to work on putting a better performance together in a few weeks. Keep checking back, I am sure there will be some sort of news coming soon..................Steve always has something to say. Thanks for checking in!!!
you are right j, steve always has something to say! what i have to say this time is even thought the car was not handling to jason's bennefit, he never gave up. all a team can ask of their driver is to put forth the effort to try to make the best of things in a given situation. even though we are a team on a very limited budget and a crash of anything other than of minor magnitued would be disastrous, jason took a car that he was not very comfortable with and ran it as hard as he could, at times bouncing off of and jumping over the outside cushion trying to find a way around the track that would be more to his liking. i believe jason found he could do some things with an ill handling car that he might not have realized. even though the finishing position was not great, the night was by no means a disaster for just that reason.
