Late race flip ends hope of good night for Brett Miller
By Gary Thomas
Chico, CA – April 18, 2008…Chico’s Brett Miller was poised to have a good finish last night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, but a late race collision during the 25 lap main event ended his chances. The night of action marked the third point race of the Feather Falls Casino weekly season and the evening was sponsored by NMI Industrial Contractors.
Warm day time temps, coupled with a strong wind that never subsided as the night went on caused the track surface to become tough to pass on during the main event. Miller however, was still able to make headway in the feature as the Scott Clarke prepped machine was set-up to perfection on this night.
The 18 year-old driver lined up 12th in the main event and was on the move early as he put the Care Free Pools, Platinum Powder Coating No. 1x into ninth by the time a caution appeared on lap five. He continued to move forward on the restart as he dispatched of both Colby Wiesz and Kevin Sharrah to move into the seventh position by the ninth circuit.
The last part of the race saw him run the bottom like many of the other competitors were doing, but on lap 20 as he battled wheel to wheel with another driver, the pair made contact and it sent the River City Pool Plastering, JP’s Paint & Body Maxim upside down off turn two. It was a very disappointing end to the night, but the team will come back strong next week at the fourth Silver Dollar Speedway Feather Falls Casino point race.
