New Insurance Program

Skagit Speedway is pleased to offer its competitors a new insurance policy. "With the ever increasing cost of medical treatment in the U.S. I want to be sure the racers have the best insurance possible" stated track owner Steve Beitler, "Most tracks carry the minimum of $5,000 death benifit and $15,000 medical coverage. When I took the track over I paid for a premium policy that had $10,000 death benifit and $100,000 medical coverage". Skagit Speedway has put together an insurance program that will provide $20,000 death benifit and $500,000 in medical coverage to all individuals that participate in the program. The cars will register this year (Hornets are $30 and Sprints are $50) this will cover one driver. Additional drivers and crew members can have this coverage for a one time fee of $25. "To get $500,000 in medical coverage for $25 is a great deal, a real no brainer" said Beitler,"This policy is available to all drivers, crew members, vendors and any people that enter the pit area, even one time visitors". Indaviduals that are not part of the program will have $10,000 death benifit and $50,000 medical insurance.

and team wright.... I dont know what events you going to but I have only seen it once when there was a $50 pit pass and thats for the spectator knoxville nationals pit pass....and the reason for the pit passes if because of all th costs that goes with running a show..

$45 pit passes are not uncommon where i live. just what are the costs of running a show? does the front gate not contribute? just asking where my money is going. i understand it costs something to run a show, i'm not going to speculate on how much and for what. maybe you can enlighten me.

yes the front gate covers the costs too... but lets see here some of the costs are

preparing the track, you have the crews, cost of equipment

the staff on hand everyrace night needs to be paid.

cost of consessions

the electric bill to light the track, cook the food, play the music....ect

the officals that work the shows, push truck drivers, ect...

pay the purse, end of season points funds ect..

the insurance preminums, those arent cheap even for the basic covrage...

promotional costs. tv/raido/newspaper that sort of stuff

sanctioning fees for the special shows.

those are just some of the costs I am sure that there are more and I wouldnt even begin to imange what the total costs are to just run a normal weekly show.

thank you. maybe you could throw in some numbers as to what some of these costs are at least in your area.

insurance preminums- h2h has just posted his track can get them for 25 bucks for a one time fee. (?)

consessions?- you have to be kidding.

push truck drivers- how many places PAY for that. just wondering.

preparing the track- from the sound of it most folks on here think track prep is sucking these days. an hour or two the day of the race is not track prep.

not trying to bag on promotors anywhere. just asking simple questions. hell, maybe we are underpaying. i don't know. electrical, facility rent, safety crews?

Up here some of the pit gate money goes to the Championship Found and the Push Trucks (and Skagit is paying $2000.00 to win in the 410 division this year)

Racers up here ask for a higher back Pit gate cost in a meeting in November

The insurance plan covers Graphic Artist (team wright-one) to Picture takers (H2H) and anyone that comes into the pit area for a $25.00 fee (one time)

I would say (my $ .02) that you will be seeing this type of track insurance coming to other tracks in the near future

Heck we don't have a race for weeks up here but they been on the track several times already including today

I dont know the excat numbers but I can talk to a couple of the promoters here and see what i can come up with....

insurance, yea i seen that H2H posted that you can get it for the one time fee of $25 but you have to think that the track promoter has to pay for the insurance up front...and that costs alot more than the $25 there charging per person....Were doing a autograph day/car show here this week and for the insurance were being charged $800 and were not even firing a motor let alone racing...so you can see how that costs are going to be extremely high..

Consessions?? what you think the track gets the food for free??? yea so your going to have to buy the food, hire people to pepare /serve it, buy equpmient to cook it ect...so yep thats gonna cost $$ too

push truck driver, I know that here we pay our drivers $30 a night...now take that times 8 or so trucks and you got $240 per night and now you say we run what 25 races thats $6000 in just to have the push trucks out there..

and yea even though some say there is no track prep...there is some, and everyone knows that they just dont show up to the track and race...if you thinkg that maybe take a drive out to your track 3 or 4 days before you race and take a look whats goin on chances are there will be someone working on the track/or facilty.....

Sorry H2H I didnt mean to Hi-Jack your thread here

Consessions - not meaning to nit-pick but don't you make money from them?
