Bud Kaeding claims 7th at Placerville

By Gary Thomas

Placerville, CA – March 23, 2008…Fresh off his first top 10 finish of the Golden State Challenge Series season last weekend in Watsonville, two-time and defending USAC Silver Crown Series champion Bud Kaeding came back this past Saturday night to score a seventh place finish at the Placerville Speedway.

The GSC event at Placerville marked the fourth round of action for the traveling winged 410 sprint car series and the 28 year-old began the evening by timing solidly in the top 10 with a quickest lap of 10.382 aboard the K & N Filters, Alviso Rock No. 29.

Kaeding then lined up on the outside of the second row in the night’s final heat race and brought home a second place finish behind World of Outlaw regular Shane Stewart. By transferring through the heat he was able to run in the dash that sets up the first four rows of the feature. Starting seventh Kaeding crossed the line in that same spot at the checkered flag to earn a fourth row starting spot in the main event.

Following the dash car chief Joey Batts and the team went to work on the car to get it ready for the main event, which was run on a hooked up track with the usual Placerville Speedway cushion present. Lining up in the fourth row Kaeding battled in the top 10 with a number of other drivers during the 30 lap main event and at the checkered he brought home a seventh place finish in the Kaeding Performance, High Five Pizza No. 29. "It was pretty good night for us, but we'd like to get up in the top five night in, night out. We'll just move on to next week and try to get this thing up there," Kaeding said.

Next weekend will see Bud Kaeding and the BK Motorsports team travel to Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway for the fifth race of the Golden State Challenge Series season. Last season Kaeding had a best finish of fourth during GSC action at the Tulare County Fairground 1/3 mile clay oval.
