March 18 (yesterday) was the anniversary of the first WoO race which was held at Devil's Bowl, won by Jim Boyd....
I know this is the 30th anniversary year for WoO but yesterday was the anniversary of the 1st. race ...I can't believe I am 6 days older than the outlaws

"I can't believe I am 6 days older than the outlaws"
I was already 27 by 1978, the first year of the Outlaws. By the way, happy birthday!

It's a matter of symantics, which I believe the new organization has corrected.
In the iterim, I'd say that if you were at the race on 3/16 and saw Norman Martin take the checkers during the "A" main you believe he was the first WoO winner.

It's a shame they don't come to OKC anymore too. Ummmm - let's see here - what do the Bowl and OKC have in common these dayzzzzz?

In regards to the WOO B-Day on the 16 or 18th ,, lets just say 16-18. I went to Devils Bowl for the first time that inagural outing for the WOO simply to be going "somewere" to see some races to get out of the midwest cold. One year out of high school,, Of course I didn't know( have a clue) what "WOO" was. Little did I know that I seen " history made". whoohoo..Of course being a good ol boy from the midwest, having seen Wolfie run the year before, and seeing Wolfie parked in the pits, I thought Wolfie would be able to be eating pizza while running the feature and still win. But low and behold Jimmy Boyd with Kenny Woodruff from the Golden State made it all come together on the final night of that outing. And here's somethin else. Later that season I said" that group will be defunct the next year". Show's ya how much naysayers, porch pilots, gloom and doomers, like me knows,,,:-) Somethin to think about.
Take Care

Phil...BINGO!
I hear he won't even discuss LEASING the track for a WoO show.
Gotta love the politics involved...
