Bud Kaeding records first top 5 of GSC season
By Gary Thomas
Watsonville, CA – March 14, 2008…Rebounding from a tough Mini Gold Cup last weekend Campbell’s Bud Kaeding used his home track of Ocean Speedway to record his first top five finish of the Golden State Challenge Series season.
The event on Friday night was the first of four season stops to the Watsonville track for GSC this year. Race teams and fans braved the elements as very chilly temps were seen once the sun went down, which is almost trademark for the Ocean Speedway. Kaeding’s best lap in timed qualifications was a 12.071 which put him 10th fastest in the 29 car field.
Starting fourth in heat two Kaeding brought home a third place finish behind brother Tim and WOO regular Jason Meyers. The 28 year-old then lined up in the 10th position for the 30 lap main event and battled forward on a treacherous surface to record a fifth place finish aboard the Kaeding Performance, K & N Filters, Alviso Rock No. 29.
Kaeding had originally planned to compete at the Kings Speedway in Hanford tonight, but with the cancellation of that event it will allow him to take the night off and get everything squared away for the rest of the season with the No. 29 machine. His next race will be next Saturday at Bakersfield Speedway for a USAC Western States Midget event. For more news on Campbell, CA’s Bud Kaeding visit http://www.budkaedingracing.com
