Jonathan Allard scores 4th at Ocean Speedway
By Gary Thomas
Watsonville, CA – March 14, 2008…Competing on a very cold night Friday at the Ocean Speedway Chico’s Jonathan Allard brought home his second top five finish in the first three Golden State Challenge Series events.
Gusty winds were prevalent during the day and the track dried quickly as the night went on. Allard turned the night’s fifth quickest lap in qualifying with an 11.835 second lap aboard the Williams Motorsports, K & N Filters, Red Line Oil No. 0.
After a third place finish in the opening heat race he then had a tough draw in the dash pulling the number eight pill. Allard went on to bring home a seventh place finish in the eight lap contest putting him on the inside of the fourth row for the 30 lap feature.
The 31 year-old proceeded to steadily make his way forward in the main event and crossed the line in fourth place after 30 laps of racing. “Once I got into fourth I figured I’d play it safe and just stay on the bottom with how much the track dried out,” Allard said following the race.
Next up for Jonathan Allard and Williams Motorsports will be next Saturday March 22 when the Golden State Challenge Series invades the high banks of Placerville Speedway. The red clay bullring has been good to Allard in recent years and last year he scored finishes of second and tenth at the speedway.
