Hey Pete keep diggin brother. Yet another post full of contridictions. Hanging out in the main event winners pit, drinking beer from thier cooler does not constitut 'teching' a car. If you would prefer A more recent example of your lack of inteligence, we would only have to look to last season, shall we disscus Jesse Mac ?

O nameless one.

Awesome, now I know...you were the drunk that got tossed for not knowing what was up..

KOP and Guys, on ASCS heads and stuff, without creating a debate over that issue, there have been several teams that have discussed with me an ASCS head rule. I spoke with Emmit Hahn, Tommy Estes and Brodix about the head and rules and studied the issue in depth.

I wouldn't necessarily say never but right now there is too much resistance and seeming more negatives than positives at this time. The biggest thing is the "cost" associated with rule changes and teams switching over vs. a cheap gasket and picking up any head and using it, keeping costs down.

The VRA has the same view as the Bandit Series where it doesn't make sense at this time. A couple of years ago, Richard Harvey told me SCRA was going with an ASCS head rule in two years or so which would have put it at 07/08ish and I never did hear if that was a plan for sure. I understand the thinking, but one of the basic things is to try and keep costs managable. That is a key issue for everyone with this deal.

There are a few who spend tons of bucks on heads for ASCS gaskets but the truth is ASCS heads are massaged and tweeked and extra dollars are spent on those too. They aren't simply installed out of the box in many cases. And although the majority of items can be checked with a "tech kit", the only way to check for certain of in depth alterations is to pull the heads and check them or send them to Brodix. There are many who purchase other brand heads at a lower cost and are competitive right out of the box and no extra CNC work or tricks.

After speeking with teams that either had ASCS heads or were looking to purchase them they didn't want to go that route, at least at this time. With all things considered, this is the best formula for us here right now. There is no magic or universal formula.

Hope this adds to some of the perspective.

Peter

Having ASCS come to town would be about the best thing that could happen at this point. It seems as though, whatever Emmitt gets involved with, it seems to do pretty well.

KOP, you're definitely right when you talk about how many people didn't think Emmitt would pull it off when he started the ASCS.

It seems that whatever Emmitt gets involved with, it turns out pretty darn good.

Lets see, the Chili Bowl comes to mind for starters.
