I have heard rumors that the SCOA based in Arizona will not sanction races in 2008. Can someone verify or dismiss this rumor?

Thanks

With two 360 series now in Arizona it wouldn't surprise me.

Hi, are you talking about winged cars? We have 3 non winged groups. Challenge Cup Sprints, ASCA and ASCS. I know they run some winged cars down at USA but I couldn't tell you who or what .LOL I would go out to a SCOA show just to watch Ricky Hood or Johny though. They have been hanging on by the skin of their teeth for some time now.

Their is now the ASCS Canyon (non wing 360s that used to be the ASCA) and ASCS Southwest (winged 360s). Both groups will run at Manzy, Tucson, Show Low and Casa Grande. I'm not sure what he Challenge Cup Series is, I've never heard of it. The ASCA is now the ASCS Canyon they will run all over just like the ASCS Southwest. They will run couple of shows together.

ASCA is separate from ASCS Canyon region. Both are wingless 360's and have separate schedules for 2008. This underscores the crowding of sprint car groups in AZ. Its a bummer if SCOA is truly done.

Right, ASCA is not with ASCS, though some go back and forth. They are still alive and working hard..http://www.canyonspeedwaypark.com/schedule.html

The challenge cup is a series up north and hooked up with ASCA last year for some very competitive races. http://www.pvraceway.com/schedule.htm They started at and their home track is at Prescott Valley Raceway.

So is the ASCA just at Canyon Raceway? I can almost swear that in a press release about the Arizona ASCS deals they said that the ASCA was changing into their region. Is the ASCA the 360s that used to run at Manzy all the time?

Yes, they were pushed out by ASCS. They had a rough year, so did Canyon speedway, but they have hung in there and it looks like they have a good start this year. They are trying to keep a series with the same intention as before. One where you don't have to have cockpit adjustments, titanium parts and all that to be competitive.

All of this still does not answer the question about the demise of SCOA. It doesn't look good though. Their web-site hasn't been updated this year and they don't show up on anyones schedules that I have looked at, Canyon, Manzy, Hollywood Hills. They have struggled for a number of years, so it's probably time. Sad, because a lot of people worked very hard for years trying to make it grow.

ASCA schedule indicates one race at Show Low.

No one really answered my first question, just opinions and other topics.

People answer legitimate questions here with straight answers? That hasn't happened on this site since I don't know how long.
