HUNTER MORGAN AND RED BULL U.S. GP ROOKIE AUSTIN MEDRANO (right)
Motorcycle Road Racing Season opens this weekend in Henderson, Texas at Oak Hill Raceway
Runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday Feb 22, 23, 24.
Come on out and watch the fun weather is supposed to be great Sat and Sun in the
upper 60's. I will be there in my usual CMRA Announcers Position calling the races.
On Sunday around Noon everyone that rode in on or brought a motorcycle to the
track gets to make a big slow parade lap around the Oak Hill roadrace track, it is
called the "Spectator Lap of the Track."
This weeked among the 500 plus entries, look for rookie Texas riders Hunter Morgan and D. J. Oaks, plus Kentucky's Jake Lewis, all set to compete in the CMRA season opener. Plus see for the first time in competition for many, many of the new 2008 Red Bull Rookies, Garet Tomlinson and Austin Medrano, our two local riders and the Kentucky Kids Hayden Gillim, Frankie Lee Gillim who are in the top 23 riders in the World that qualified for the 2008 Red Bull AMA U.S. Rookies Cup series. The Gilim's are cousins of World Moto GP Champion Niki Hayden. Niki and his two brothers got the majority of their early road race experience racing in the CMRA events in Texas and Oklahoma.
Incidently, all but one of the above
riders came from Dirt Track.

Banquet Schedule
At one time in history, riders were required to compete in both Road Racing
and Dirt Track for the AMA Grand National Championship title. FUSA had a title
for the overall high points rider in both, believe Nic Cummins won it with
Logan Myers placing second.
