BUD KAEDING TO PILOT CRUZ PEDREGON'S USAC MIDGET IN 2008
INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 14, 2007) -- With sights set on the 2008 Western States Midget Series crown, Cruz Pedregon today announced that Bud Kaeding, the 2006 and 2007 USAC Silver Crown Champion, will pilot Pedregon's Toyota-powered midget in 2008. Kaeding will replace Josh Wise as Cruz Pedregon Racing's regular driver. Conflicting schedules will prevent Wise from competing with the team this year.
"I'm confident he'll do a good job for us," said Pedregon. "I'm fortunate a guy of his caliber is available. In 2008, we're going to concentrate on the USAC Western States Midget series and venture back and run some national events as well as Midget Week."
At 28, Kaeding, a third-generation racer from Campbell, Calif., has accumulated over 60 career wins including winning USAC Sprint Car Rookie of the Year honors in 2000. He is the only three-time winner of the Oval Nationals at Perris Auto Speedway, largest non-wing sprint car race in the country. A proven winner, Kaeding, over his 12-year career has won in Midgets, Sprint Cars and Silver Crown cars.
"I'm really excited about racing for Cruz Pedregon Racing," said Kaeding. "Over the past year, I've gotten to know Cruz and drove a few races for him last summer. I've found myself on the outs with no sponsors or funding to support my own race team for the 2008 season, so when this opportunity came available with Cruz Pedregon Racing, I jumped on it."
Kaeding, a third-generation racer, is comfortable in any car as long as it's racing.
"Midgets are a bit slower than sprint cars, but at the end of the day, as long as there are four wheels, a steering wheel, a green flag and the checkered flag, I'd love to be there," said Kaeding. "It's not a big factor for me whether I'm in a Sprint Car, Silver Crown car or a Midget, As long as I'm at the race track with an opportunity to race and win, then I'm happy and excited about it."

I wonder if Bud will still have time for some NorCal wing races or will the Silver Crown & Midget schedule keep him to busy.

The weather sounds like it's nice down there today and Bud was 3rd quickest in the Silver Crown car.

Just a little note. Cruz was in the stands most of the day Saturday. He was in the general admission section towards one where some us yahoos like to sit.
