I'm sure it was a dual purpose deal. Horses you know. I would hazard a guess it was about a mile.

My Grandad told me he remembered it and the cars running there. The track was gone just about as soon as it arrived I guess. This is the only reference I've ever seen.

Obviously these were low dollar teams since they had riding mechanics. Fairgrounds circuit, maybe IMCA?

Wow, first I have ever heard of a track being there. I have produced and attended motorsports events inside the Hardy Murphy Coliseum for years, but never caught wind of that track being there.

Quite an interesting factoid. Thanks for sharing it.

Not sure it was a mile, looks at best like it was a half mile. According to the date on this map, it was around for quite a while. Can anyone tell the length? It's in the lower right hand corner-

Hardy Murphy was such a big deal around here with his highly trained horse and international recognition amongst the rodeo crowd. Ardmore has looked at the fairgrounds as the place that Hardy built, but it has been around much longer.

This town has been around since 1887.

Wishful thinking on the mile part. I love miles with the idea of real Silver Crown cars on them. If I went to the horse races I would only think of what a waste that they aren't running a big car deal.

looks bigger than a half - maybe a 5/8ths or 3/4ths?

damn Larry - chasing the big ones are ya? lol. ever ran Syracuse or Fonda?

If you was a generation older - you'd probably be in a wheel chair from inuries sustained from the tracks in the Indiana/Ohio/Illinois area known as "The Hills" - I know Winchester was one - wasn't there like 3 or 4 others that made up that group of dangerous tracks?

The bigger the track, the more comfortable he is. Saw Garry lee runing the top at Belleville and Larry went between him and the wall to win the deal. We went to Eldora the first time and he won his heat and ran 13th(I think) in the Kings Royal. Those are two of the most intimidating tracks there are as far as I am concerned.

Salem, Indiana and Dayton Speedway. Salem still runs a couple of races a year and Dayton Speedway is no longer around. I got to make a few laps around Dayton Speedway in my 76 Camaro back in 78. I also got to run my Modified around Eldora back in 93. It was Modified and All Star Sprint show. Blowed my motor in the heat race. What an awesome track

The dirt MILES are --Duquoin, Springfield, Indianapolis fairgrounds, Syracuse. No race has been run as far as I know at Sacramento in 20 yrs. so that one is out.

If(LOL) I had the money and lived up north, I would be a dirt Silver Crown owner. Maybe a PRA deal too. Throw in a midget for the Chili Bowl, then a sprinter for USAC , then

maybe

a...........

See where PRa lost a managing owner to USAC?

That really surprised me after how hard the Jasons have worked to get thier deal good!
