Several Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Drivers Run Strong in Australia

Concord, NC— January 20, 2008--By: Tony Veneziano, World of Outlaws PR Director

With the season opening 37th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida less than three weeks away, several Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series used this weekend at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway in Australia as a final tune-up before heading to the Sunshine State.

After two consecutive days of rain, the scheduled three-day event was shortened to two, with more rain on Sunday night causing a lengthy delay during the race program.

For most of the 30-lap contest, Craig Dollansky, who won three times with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series in 2007, battled for the top spot with Robbie Farr. Dollansky, who started third, took the lead on the 19th lap only to have a caution come out before a full lap was completed, thus reverting the field back to the last completed lap.

With five laps remaining, Dollansky came to a stop on the track, ending his night. Farr would go on to lead all 30 laps in picking up the win, with Brooke Tatnell the reigning World Series Sprintcar champion, who won at Skagit Speedway with the World of Outlaws in 2007, finishing second.

Joey Saldana in his second start of the year at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway finished third. The native of Brownsburg, Indiana who won 13 times overall with the World of Outlaws in 2007, lined up eighth for the event and worked his way around two-time defending series champion Donny Schatz, as well as 2001 champion Danny Lasoski and fellow American Paul McMahan on his way to the front.

Lasoski, who won a preliminary feature on Thursday night at the track finished fourth on Sunday night. The 2001 World of Outlaws champion started the night by turning the fastest lap in time trials, with a star-studded field in attendance.

Donny Schatz, the two-time defending World of Outlaws champion, finished fifth on Sunday night. The North Dakota native won four times at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway during the International Sprint Car season, including the $50,000 Classic earlier this month. He also was victorious in the World Series Sprintcar finale last weekend in Brisbane to bring his win total to five in Australia for the year.

Jason Meyers finished sixth on Sunday night, after starting 12th in the 30-lap contest. Meyers, who won five times with the World of Outlaws in 2007, finished fourth on Thursday night at the track. He is a former winner at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway.

Sammy Swindell, the three-time World of Outlaws champion finished seventh in the event after lining up 11th.

Paul McMahan who won twice with the World of Outlaws in 2007 finished eighth on Sunday night, after having trouble on Thursday in the opener.

Jason Sides who won at Ohsweken Speedway in Canada last season with the World of Outlaws finished ninth on Sunday night after turning the second fastest lap in time trials. He finished eighth on Thursday night in his first start of 2008.

Also in action on Sunday night was 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser who finished 12th, along with Justin Henderson and Kerry Madsen. Kinser won at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway on New Year's Day and picked up four Top-Three finishes during the International Sprint Car season.

Danny Lasoski turned the fastest lap of the 54 cars that took a lap in time trails. Jason Sides was second, with Craig Dollansky third, Justin Henderson sixth, and Donny Schatz 10th.

In preliminary action on Sunday night, Kinser finished second in the first heat, with Swindell third and Lasoski fifth. The second heat saw Meyers finish third. Dollansky was second in the third heat, with Schatz one spot behind him. Joey Saldana won the fourth heat. Sides won the B-Main with Henderson finishing third to both earn starting spots in the A-Feature.

The 30th anniversary Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season begins on February 8, 2008 with the 37th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.
