According to the Okc mayor he wants the citizens of Okc to approve another one cent sales tax to improve the Ford Center in march after the MAPS for kids is over. I think the figure the city came out to be with this sales tax was around 125 to 150 million dollors for improvements and a new practice gym. Basically, to bring in a NBA team more in less.
I posted on here a few weeks ago about the city council approved a fesiablity study on the grandstands. I know if the city council says the grandstands needs to be torn down I will be one pissed off resident of Okc. We can give a bunch of pre madonna NBA players a place to play but we can't do anything for a structure that was here maybe even before the Mayor was born. I call BS on that.

There will be a vote in March, I understand, to approve the sales tax increase. If you're not registered to vote, do it quickly. I cannot stand the idea of paying more for everything I need just to make a few rich people even richer for a few years, then watching them move on down the road when the pickings get slim, as they inevitably will. This is a perfect opportunity to tell the folks downtown that it's NOT their money and we've had enough. In case anyone on the south side is interested, that MAPS money you just approved will see 93 cents on a dollar spent north of I-40....far north, mostly.

Just to let people know one on the sports message board ,one that I spend too much time on, someone claims that eighty percent of the citizens of Okc will vote for this tax. I find it kinda funny he already knows how people will vote and claiming it passed.

Seems the mayor knows how many ignorant (his buds) people vote. Wish I could vote in Ok County on this! TO THE PEOPLE IN OKLAHOMA COUNTY -- VOTE NO on this proposal. Make the owners of the team put their millions into bringing them here rather than the tax payers.
How long would it be before the support of the team dies with the ticket prices of a pro-team. The media stated that the Hormet prices were less because of the circumstances.
Does the speedway get any funding from th city, county or stae? From personal observation it seems to be all on us the racers.
Rumor has it, we not only support ourselves but also the other overhead of the fairgrounds facility (horses).
If you have facts, please educate us.
