I think he's saying that now that people of normal intelligence have weighed in on the the topic he gets it. Glad to be of service!

And I'm gonna cut the crap right here. I never said, nor thought Macedo wasn't super talented. I just don't appreciate his overly aggressive style and I never realize that people commented on this message board had a point. Dude is kind of dirty. He It is definitely a kick ass sprint, car driver and I appreciate watching him. I just wish there would be less carnage in the process to him driving to a win. As far as my bell busting on NWFAN... It's all good for my side, We're all sprint fans and little bench racing or smack-talking going into the off-season is in good fun for me. Happy to buy a round and do some in-person smack talk next season with y'all. The worst day talking shit and drinking beer at the track is better than the best day at work for me. Be well, men

Your sentiment was basically what the guys on The Drivers Project said, he's super talented and taking guys out for his skill level and ability level is not really needed.

Nick, I normally agree with your POV, however I think the opinion or perception from both fans and drivers are warranted. I can't name another driver that has dumped more guys this year than Carson.I don't really care if he's rich or not. He's been very polite and kind when I've had any interactions with him. I think the thing that I would like to see is " hey I'm sorry " but that rarely occurs.
And yes, if you have a reputation for being "dirty" then you're going to be more scrutinized. That's with everything in life.
We can probably agree as well that not all wrecks are a result of dirty driving, but can be considered "racing deal".
|
I see your take on it and its a fair one. This year or this past 2months probably not. If you look at how many incidents have involved him with contact with another car or possibly him running another car out of room then he is probably the leader at the end of the year. Were some of those his own screw ups and running out of talen in that moment, yes. Was every single one of them that people complained about as bad as they make it out to be? Probably not. I think some of this has to do with earlier this year Carson probably felt he gave up a race or 2 due to lap cars. He starts driving a little more aggressively (not dirty) post Nationals especially in lap traffic and coming up through the field and has success with not getting into anyone. But then he gets into a car or 2 but at the same time he's still winning and winning is addicting.
Now in a past incident here in Ohio I have seen Carson personally walk to a guy's trailer and apologize to their face. Does it happen over the PA system in the interview, probably not. But seeing it first hand and also a situation where a driver was also heated at him and Carson pretty much took his tongue lashing and did not hide in the trailer like nearly every Nascar driver. I respect that even though on that particular night he probably did driver in over his head.

"He's a nice kid and he does admit when he makes a mistake" Are you serious? First of all, he's not a kid. He's an adult and takes zero accountability his actions. This is a pattern for him.
Just these past 2 weeks alone during the West Coast swing clearly illustrates he needs an ass whipping.

Sorry to trigger you, it was just my take. Sorry it differs from yours. Its just a sprint car race bud, relax a little. Also, yes he's over 18, he's an adult sorry my general term for someone over a decade younger than me offended you.

Lol. OK bud.
Too bad the era of guys like Jack Hewitt is over. Torpedo Macedo wouldn't be running over guys like he gets away with now.
You didn't trigger me. You did make me laugh though.

The Hewitt era is unfortunately long gone. Now you have the whole crew or Dads going to the trailers to settle things instead of letting the drivers work it out. They used to work it out and move on but now you have brawls and neverending fueds.

I should have pointed out that this happens in all forms of racing not just open wheel.

sooo a follow up to one of my responses, after listening to The Drivers Project, who had Carson Macedo on recently.
Macedo knows he messed up, but the apologies don't alway come public. Often he'll reach out to the drivers, and owners, sponsors and apologize.
After watching the replays of some of the wrecks he's been in, I'd say not ALL fault is on him. A few drivers should have lifted, or turned back down. Inexperience may be a factor as well.
I think Macedo knows that he's had a few bad races, however he's also provided some insight on a drivers POV and how the margin of error is so small. When they go to these races, outside of the outlaws, they go there to win. The owners hire them to win, and if they don't have that mentality, then they'll find another driver. NOT that the drivers need the purse, but the owners hire these higher profile drivers to win the races.
Macedo should mature as a driver where we see these things less and less from him.
The interview was good and I have a slightly different perspective on what goes through his mind when he's involved in a wreck.
