It'll be interesting to me to compare next year's schedule of both to what they've had this year. And how many tracks that had HL shows with marginal attendance will try again.

There were some tracks especially early in the season that are not equipped for big time sprint car racing. Many also had dismal attendance numbers. It will be interesting to see if they are on next season's schedule.

i feel like central pa got hosed by the high limit schedule. they only go to port now when the all stars used to race at every track if i'm not mistaken. grandview on a tuesday night isn't an easy trip from central pa. larson didn't race in the area at all when we used to see him multiple times every year. on one hand it's smart to hitch your wagon to port since it's probably our strongest track...but the outlaws have claimed much more territory.

I know it's not billed as such, But isn't that basically what Eldora, Husets (their big one), Knoxville and Charlotte is?
I guess I have not checked to see if HL has scheduled against Charlotte. But that is 4 big shows that all of the big players came or are coming to play together in during the 2024 season.

The split: Thumbs Up- *More top-level sprint car races this year *More room for some new talent to show their abilities. For example, Day and Kofoid might not have stood out as much if there was only one series. *Competition made the WoO step up their game a bit. *Purses seemed to rise. *More local teams seemed to come out and race against the big dogs.
Thumbs down: *Splitting the sport meant splitting the talent. I'm ok with that. *The two groups do not play well together, which is to be expected. The world isn't all black and white.
This N That: *Regardless of which series, the better racing by far seemed to occur on the smaller tracks. *The split allowed some teams- like Roth and Shark Racing- to split and try out both worlds *Having 2 top level sprint car series allowed more opportunities for most low budget local guys to become field fillers. *I don't feel like the split helped safety or costs in any noticable way. You can say the purses are higher, but let's be honest. That's just inflation. *I forsee in a couple years that the two will merge back into one series. I'd expect that series to have a major league and a minor league type set-up.:

That would be just like it was before with WoO & Allstars
Everything has its good & bad sides...
Overall, I'm gonna say its been good!

If he's claiming $20 is too much for a regular show in 2024, with operating costs going through the roof, he's a bigger idiot than we previously thought. I don't know how tracks can survive on weekly admission the way it is anyways. He must be talking about something else. As you stated, it would be nice if there was a label on the "20" so we knew what it meant.

Strawser: Regarding attendance this is my opinion and one that even drivers share......the length of shows in Central PA are a problem for every week attendance.
Lernerville Kudos - high limit does a really good with running a show......
three division shows at tracks that have good car counts whera a b-main is required for all 3 is a long night waiting to happen.
Egras i'm with you regarding $20 admission.
I support Port Royal because they have a total purse for Late Models and Sprint cars of over $44,000.00 not includinbg tow money. At $20 a ticket for just GA that would require 2,200 fans.
Port Royal's web-site actually is one of the best at posting admission prices and purses here is link to their purses for a regular show with the limited late model purse being the same for the 305's link:

i do not like the 3 division shows at port and it does keep me away some nights when i'm a little tired and just don't want the late night - and i watch on flo.... I feel more supportive knowing i purchase four reserved seats at $85 per in Janaury and i consider it money well spent as i don't have to watch what i consider boring and that is time trials.
so i may complain about some unnecessary IMHO babble over the microphone, and drawing shows out - but Port again IMHO is not greedy in admission prices for a regular show and looking at admission at other tracks for big shows Port is certainly not out line.

I guess we'll see if it's good, however IDK if it'll be as clear as we'd think. There seems to be more racing, more sponsors, and higher $ shows, so that's good.
Both series now have a safety team that follows each series, so that's good.
The BIG difference will be how much revenue will be shared, and if the WOO doesn't so something similar, do the purses and two money make up the difference.

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of the WoO and the WoO Gumout series. The hot-shots on the WoO circuit would race at the bigger, better attended shows. The Gumout/ minor league series would feature hot local drivers, up and comers, and drivers easing into retirement competing in some of the smaller markets.

I think it's due to a percentage of "fans" would rather see 16.7 seconds a lap with no passing rather than 18.2 second lap times and a lot of passing. Now that a think about it, those "fans" are closeted dragster "fans" and that percentage of "fans" is actually like .07 percent, so never mind.

Yep on those four: Eldora > Knoxville > Husets > Charlotte
I just think maybe 3,4 more sprinkled throughout the season would be really good for everyone involved in the sport
As to attendance, yes the weekly shows are hurting...but the big dirt shows seem to be thriving. A really great time for 410 winged sprint car racing. That's why I'm interested in the future of the two series combined with some kind of mutually beneficial championship series

Look at the West Coast. They literally have had a month and a half of big money racing they have not seen in awhile. I guess since the outlaws canceled their spring trip out there, but 6 straight weeks and 16 bigger paying shows. If HL has a good touring group next year and a similar schedule, I am planning a trip out there to watch races fron Chico to Skagit.

Like it or not the HL will eventually have to use the WoO business model to survive! Drivers will have to sign contracts assuring their attendance at HL races. I for one say long live the WoO! They are the greatest show on dirt and I don't see that changing anytime soon!
