Not another tread to bash last night's surface. I have been attending races in Central Pa since the mid 80's. I usually attend 12 to 15 races a year between The Grove, Lincoln, Port Royal, Selinsgrove and BAPS. Usually for the bigger sanctioned shows. I have probably only missed one or two National Opens during that time, and always try to attend The Bob Weikert Memorial over Memorial Day. But last night was my very first Tuscoura 50. I can not believe it has taken me this long to experience it in person. Other than the last 15 laps, I loved every thing about my entire experience. The atmosphere, the fair, the food stands, the crowds etc. It has the feeling of a big time race and having been to The Knoxville Nationals, Kings Royal, and National Open, etc and it ranked right up there in terms of enjoyment.. I will be back next again year. Job well done Port Royal. Leave the surface bashing to other folks.

If it was such a bad track, how do yo account for about a third of the field passing between 6 and 12 cars each?

Macri +7 positions

Miller +8

Peck +6

Reutzel +10

Sweet +6

Michael Walter (who?) +12, good on him!

Marks +12

McFadden +9.

That's 70 passes for position among 8 drivers.

Would expect anything less with your reponse. You missed my point. I was talking about the whole vive. It is very hard not to argue the weekend is an EVENT much like The Nationals, just on a smaller scale, with all the campers, the bands and the Fair atmosphere.

actual passes for position or advancement from starting spot.

i believe you are just going off of MRP.  Love the place and normally see this type of passing....Saturday was a bummer it happens - no sugar coating it....there was very little on track passing after the first lap or two....by lap 15-19 almost non existent unless drop out advancement.

Seems the bottom row got an unusually great start on the second lap one....

This type of track prep has worked in the past - it did not work this past saturday night.

Lance Dewease started first flat tire running 4th lap 48.

courtney started 7th dropped out.

lynch started 9th dropped out.

Day started 11th flipped first lap.

wise started 16th dropped out running 17th lap 47.

So reviewing your passes.

Macri - started 10th passed 4 cars on the first lap to sixth truly passed 7 cars.

PPM started 15th i'm thinking moved up row from Day flip but end of lap 1 was 8th did not advance another spot until Lance flat tire.

Peck started 14th 4 dropped out in front of for a 2 pass night.

Ruetzel, Marks, McFadden 5 drop outs in front of them .

Sweet started 19th passed 4 cars on first lap two would eventually drop out.

The last post stated the facts. It was a very bad race to watch. They had a one hour intermission , which would have been enough time to at least make an effort to make the track better. It sucked ALL night.

I am someone who calls the kettle black if it is black and am a huge fan of both Port and HL. That race sucked and was huge disappointment.

Ditto - I absolutely love fair week and the racing at port.  2 of the 3 nights were incredible on track....and without a doubt three incredible nights of atmosphere.  By far my favorite event of the year as I can attend in person.

Been to Knoxville and Eldora love them both but one is almost 1,000 miles and the other nearly 500 miles away.  I feel lucky to have an incredible event less than 1 hour away....an event that had me so jacked up after the first two nights that a little let down was probably inevitable.

I think we all can go back to Knoxville (even posts here) and say they missed track prep a night and I'd say probably two nights. Heck I recall the posts about getting the cornfield out of one and two at Eldora for the kings royal.

What Port has done over the past ten years is arguably the best improvements anywhere.  What I believe makes posting regarding a very occasional miss by port a sensitive topic - is the few unfortunate personal attacks on someone I truly believe pours his heart and soul into what he does. My opinion is most nights Steve prepares a track that provides some of the best racing anywhere and it is on big fast half mile where many argue you see very few or a lot less than the bull rings.

Dude you need to lay off that crap, the only person it makes look bad is you...

If you have such a hardon for the guy be a friggen man and go talk to him in person and quit slandering him on this message board, it's getting pretty old and I'm sure I'm not the only one who is sick and tired of you bashing the guy and the track. How does that help the sport in any way shape or form ? It doesn't, so just give it a rest already.

The last thing the tracks in this area need is more internet bashing. I've asked him before if he really cares about the sport and the tracks but I get no reply now if I take him on about the Port surface we'll go on forever. He just doesn't care he'd rather bash and spew shit and read his own posts. He's truly pathetic.

Yep, he just causes hate and discontent with his constant bashing of Razor Steve and Port Royal. I'm suprised the Mods have let him get away with it as long as they have...

dsc1600 & RunWYB- I realize it was not a good racing surface. Sometimes that happens. I was poking fun at Mr. (Mrs.?) God's gift to track preparation.  The attention bore is such an Eeyore that he gives the other donkeys a bad name.
