Even a broken clock is right twice a day. What a horrible race track Port Royal had for the Tusky. WingedStrawser finally is in the right....

And the Outlaw show was a caution fest. Both major touring races sucked tonight, but as a late model fan the World 100 lived up to the billing. Record crowd (probably due to Bloomquist celebration of life and Castrol racing on Wed. night helped) and just a fantastic race. 9 lead changes among 5 drivers 2 cautions.

I watched Brownie time trial last night and turned it to watch something else. It looked like they didn't touch it from the night before. Only put the water on top of the surface. Razor Steve at his finest!
First two nights track was perfect all night long.....
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Yes pittyfull. Decided to go for once because the previous two nights appeared very good from what I seen on Flo. What a joke and waste of my time and money. Good the are closing up early for the season. Maybe, just maybe they will scoop up the entire surface and put down completely all new clay.

I also watched the world 100 and it was a very good race. I was hoping McDowell was going to pull it off.
After that finished I flipped to the WoO race, to some track issue, with several hotlap sessions. I assumed it rained causing the delay, said f it and went to bed.

They obviously have someone who knows how to prepare the track as evidenced by the first two nights of racing...

Yes, and Saturday was the way it normally is during the year. First two nights were good.... Saturday was really really really bad for one of the biggest races of the year!

After hearing all the local drivers whine and bitch about the track being too hooked up and too hammerdown fast the first 2 nights and this not being what they are used to, they got exactly what they asked for for "The biggest race of the year". So it sounds to me like your beef isn't with the track prep people or the track, it's with the local racers who prefer the kind of track that you don't like. Go holler at them and see how that works out for you...

The races were very very good the first two nights. The third night was really bag...huggy the inside guardrail the last 25 laps. Now that is exciting.....NOT!

Worst HL race this year by far and it was a shame it was on a big stage. Hopefully Port will learn from this. I have seen it happen to all the tracks. The latemodel race at Eldora Wed. night did the same thing.

I've been to this race many times just like you have. I was there when it was a unsanctioned one day show to the two day show to what it is now. It's a 50 lap race on a track that's been beat to shit by day three. Its been the same race year after year it's been rubbered up many many times before Razor Steve and you know that also. You obviously didn't go but you still criticize no matter what. Do you care about 410 racing in Pa or are you just another clown in love with your own opinion?

First and foremost not piling on....as i will be there many more nights next year. Jeepers that is depressing - six to seven months before i can watch sprint cars take to my favorite place to watch a race.
Second my biggest complaint for the weekend was the Lutheran Church running out of both Turkey and Beef dinners on Friday!!!!!! they started selling them at 11AM!
Third - after my previous announcer and time management post - I thought Chase, Tony, Earl, and Strawser were pretty darn good this weekend!!!!! Tony is very impressive - how he handled the Butch Renninger memorial award was outstanding.....knowledgeable, direct, and to the point. i will admit i was worried about this part taking up a lot of time and Tony nailed it out of the park! Shows were run about as well as possible Thursday and Friday considering the amount of racing.
Parnelli - the problem was they never tore the track open and like you alluded to on day three a track is used up. Mike Hess was shocked to say the least when at 2pm in the afternoon nothing was being done to the track.
My disappointment is not that a DIRT Track had a bad night.....it is that normal track prep was not done...after two previous nights of amazing track prep.
The track was amazing with lots of character and cushion Thursday and Friday night and the credit goes to Steve......the track was dry slick and took rubber on night three. Normally one wouldn't place blame as it happens with a dirt track from time to time - but in this case for whatever reason Steve decided not to prep the track in normal fashion....and that is what opens up the questions or the ridiculous conspiracy theories.
Steve himself owned up to it and if you know Steve he is kicking himself in the butt right now.....interestingly enough they have "Prepped" the track similiarly on many occasions over the past few years......didn't work and probably had a lot to do with the fact it was the third straight night.

Steve knows what he's doing. No debating that. But you nailed it. The only problem he has is trying to kiss every ass that approaches him about how the track should be. The dude who does Eldora even said it himself, don't listen to drivers when it comes to track prep. Prep a good track let them figure it out. That's what dirt track racing SHOULD be about. But Central Pa has a few whiny asses who kick and scream when they might have to put the right rear on a curb instead of slapping it off the wall. I've seen it first hand on numerous occasions.

i get tired of all the track prep complaining as well. the field in brazil for the eagles-packers game was supposedly bad. saquon slipped on his first carry as an eagle and embarrassed himself. he must have made some kind of adjustment because he dominated the game from there.
i don't hate a rubbered up track especially for a long and prestigious because it separates drivers who can save their stuff. "lip the stamp and send it" sells t-shirts but i'm old enough to appreciate the days where we appreciated the consistent and methodical race care driver. it was a bit suprising lance had issues but i'm sure there are multiple factors that go into it.
port gets the benefit of the doubt since they typically put on terrific races. i'm sure the atmosphere was great as always. it's a shame the church ran out but that means business was good. i'm sure they'll adjust for next year just like port will.

Excuse me if I don't take the racers word for what the "norm" is and give it a pass that even though it wasn't great 1 time out of 20.

@Zeb_Wise01
Was the track less than ideal? Yes. But I have the up most respect for
@PortRoyalSpdway
and
@razorsteve11
. Not sure I’ve ever had a track prep guy apologize to me for how the track was. It’s pretty rare they miss it on track prep here, and it takes a lot to admit when ya do
