I am certainly not a fan of Earl's style and that is just my opinion.  Having said that - unfortunately yesterday’s race was for the lack of a better word a Fiasco.  When Earl is provided an opportunity to talk for more than FIVE HOURS before the Sprint Cars take the track for their feature - there will more than likely be a lot to pick apart.

For the love of us with reserved seats and attempting to "hook" children or in my case my grandson on the sport - my hope is the Promotional Team is reflecting on why so many fans left before the feature.

Just my humble thought:

  1. NO MORE 3 division shows!
  2. It is a day show the longer the track is race ready in the sun the more it will deteriorate and then we get #3
  3. No more, track prep when you are almost 5 hours into the night/day.  - which only caused more dust.
  4. It is my opinion there are two people who like to be the show...one is at the mic and the other has the keys to the water truck...
  5. The time management is severely lacking...just a thought maybe a general manager could come in and work on this part...
  6. My desire, which had me looking forward to every trip to the best facility in PA and feel lucky to have - has certainly begun to wane.  The team has made so many amazing decisions and provided a commitment to improvement nearly unrivaled however...
  7. Race day/night has declined rapidly the last 2-3 years....and just my opinion days like yesterday make it much more likely to promote watching on flo than sitting at the track for more than 5 hours before a feature.

They had the largest crowd in years for Labor Day and managed to piss off a lot them. The Labor Day Race never starts on time. I have been to about 60 of them. Most are not in a hurry on Labor Day but that got downright boring. It was not planned to be a three divisionn show. The late model portion was an added makeup from Saturday. Support divisions with 47 cars not suited for the track might sell a lot of pit passes but it is bad for fan relations. Forty 410's was a suprise but it also added time.

Hardtopdave - sorry you feel this way or interpreted my post as fact - as it is just my opinion.  An opinion no more important than others; but, never the less an opinion formulated and revised over or as a result of 56 years of attending my favorite pasttime!

From a boy in a push truck with his father, to just going everywhere with him to races as fans, to helping on a pretty darn good team for over 12 years, to now just going back to attending with my dad - while trying to pass on my love of the sport to my grandson.

Reality is young folks will not attach to anything over 3.5-4 hours much less 5-6 hours as was this past Monday.  My dad and i had this discussion and he asked what is different than when "I had you sitting in the grandstands at Selinsgrove when the fog rolled in on a Friday night about 2:30-3am in the morning" (I believe the promoter at the time was Mr. Livelsberger????)....

What is different..... well one we as kids didn't complain, two we didn't have phones to call the folks you met at the track - we caught up at the track, we played in the dirt - ran and jumped on the banks behind the bleachers - you see that was our social time or growth so to speak......

My life has not been miserable it has been a great ride - aided by the sport of Sprint Car racing....what is worrisome to me is the potential for the continued decline of a sport I love because people are to sensitive to reflect - or right away someone is miserable or angry when offering an observation/opinion.

For the record not being a fan of someone is a lot different than disliking.....not being a fan means i still attend as many races as possible loving the action and shaking my head at some of the stuff uttered during down time....you see it it is not me they have to worry about getting back to the track as i am coming for the love of the sport.

Not being a fan of track prep 5 hours into is a lot different than disliking steve.

Quite the contrary i respect them both as they work hard and i believe are professional....as professionals reflection is a prerequisite.
