The Husets Highbank Nationals this weekend was a success, come hell or high water. All 3 nights had excellent feature races. Buddy Kofoid's big win Saturday night was one that will be talked about for years to come. You owe it to yourself to go to the WoO website and watch the highlights.
Here, I'll spoil the surprise for you. Carson Macedo led early until Kofoid caught and passed him. A few laps later, it appeared that Macedo bonked into Kofoid in the 4th corner and passed for the lead again. I thought for sure that Kofoid was headed for an upside down trip into the wall. Kofoid then chased down Macedo again and took the lead back. On the last lap, last corner, Macedo dove under Kofoid coming out of turn 4 and took the lead for about 2 seconds. Kofoid turned under Macedo and beat him to the checkers. Unbelievable!
The second best moment of the night was when the pit announcer asked Buddy what went through his mind when Macedo passed him coming to the checkers. Kofoid's response: "Oh shit!" Then an amazing amount of fireworks started and you couldn't hear the interview over the noise.
I can't think of a single thing Husets could have done better other than the 50/50 drawing. The tickets have 6 digits on them. What are the odds that I could only get one out of 6 numbers two nights and 0 for 6 the other?

i am not a macedo fan at all . he tried to wipe buddy out 2 times that race, once when buddy passed him he shoved him a right rear and then at the end. he cant win so he has to wreck them. but that was a heck of a race to watch. congrats to all teams

I did not attend, would like to in the future.
Congrats to Buddy. Macedo is an aggressive driver and I've thought both him and his brother made some questionable moves in the past, however Carson seems to be a very polite polished driver.
Keep It Real

Kofoid passed carson torpedo clean both times. The torpedo tried to clean him out every time he was close. Without a doubt carson is the dirtiest on the WoO tour.

I only watched the highlights on YouTube. It looked like Buddy ran a clean race on a tight track. I’m glad he won. As far as the race Marcedo ran, shit, he wanted to win….

Murhp, I couldn't have said it better. Great weather, great racing. Even with all the babies crying on X about one thing or another. Would they rater have it closed again? Just be thankful. We have one of the best tracks and Promoters.
Also, in your 102 years of going to the races, have you ever won a 50/50drawing?
just playin with ya

Huset's has become the best bullring in the country, and it isn't even really close.

Ha! Joke's on you. I've only been going to the races for 51 years- for real
I've never won the 50/50, but I've donated a lot to the cause. I'm not a lucky person, but my wife is. Once I was at the races and she called me to say she won a car.

I will push back a little bit and throw in I-55, Kokomo and Haubstadt could make an argument. When on, I-55 puts on the best racing hands down. Kokomo and Haubstadt consistantly put on good racing and are also very nice facilities as well. Husets is great too.

I thought those two sliders were questionable also. I'm glad Buddy won after his misfortune last year and glad I got to witness it after having a heart attack at the track last year right before the Friday night show. I do want to give a shout out to Donny Schatz while down by Buddy's hauler after the win Don came over while Buddy was signing offered congrats and a handshake to Buddy. I thought that was total class the most senior driver on tour taking time to do that. Great racing and great weekend especially the weather.

Dill with it McMurphy, it took me three years to finally hit a Friday Night 50/50 @ Knoxville Nats. Stands were being cleared for imminent tornado - the wind blew and the $h*t flew and there I stood with the winning ticket in my hand.

it has been a long time, I remember as a kid this new guy showing up, wondering if he was ever going to make anything in this sport.
I believe Woflgang or something was his name

Please tell me you are joking?
Eagle, Placerville, Kokomo, Lincoln Park, Tulare (just off the top of my head) are better by a long shot.
Husets is a 1/3 mile, but I don't consider it a bullring.

I don't know how the definitions work. Husets is not a 1/3 mile track unless you are measuring on top of the wall all the way around. The bottom racing groove measures right at about 1/4 mile. The higher lane where most of the racing took place last weekend is about 150 feet longer than 1/4 mile.
Husets is high-banked, narrow and fast, with a berm around the bottom and a wall around the top. I'd say that qualifies as being a bullring.
Stretching the definition a bit; I've never been to Grand Forks, but that looks like my idea of a fun little bullring.

Kofoid passed carson torpedo clean both times. The torpedo tried to clean him out every time he was close. Without a doubt carson is the dirtiest on the WoO tour.
