Stop the politics or as others are saying on Twitter/X stop the preaching.
one would think a track that has received millions in taxpayer grants from administrations of both parties would tread carefully in avoiding opening ceremonies like last night.

I agree but I heard track management did not know that was coming quite as it happened and they were not happy either. I even agree with most of their position but I go the race track to get away from all the daily news sh!t.

Those ladies are/were 100% correct! They are a sponsor - end of discussion. Yes, port received a ton of grants thanks in most part to Sue Pontious, but you can't stop the truth.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Agreed - AFP is a Koch-funded scourge on society. I'm sure this post will be locked, but it's good to hear the track at least wasn't happy - hopefully in the future, potential sponsors will be better vetted.
It'd be nice if the track would issue a statement indicating that they were unaware of the sponsor message and do not support or approve the messaging, but I won't hold my breath waiting on that.

If you need any more proof regarding AFP, Hosehead Forum's own walking litmus test will gladly provide it. If you're of the opposite view of old BStrawser, you're already ahead in life.

Could you explain why you think they're a scourge on society. I am not familiar with the organization. Please enlighten me. Thanks.

OK, let's keep on topic.
The topic is Bill W's racing report.
Enough of the other stuff. There are plenty of places to discuss that on the web - but not here.
Sprint car racing news on this forum please.

Not trying to incite dmantx, but the topic would seem to be the PA Speedweek race at Port Royal, no?
I'm not interested in further posting about the opening ceremony sponsor, but it is part of the event because it was allowed to be part of the event - this is part of the reason that many call for no political involvement in racing. Once it is allowed to occur, it seems directly on point to the event. No different than other things that aren't primarily linked to the racing, drivers or teams.
Railfan, a cursory Google search and reading the Wikipedia and Sourcewatch.org pages would give additional information on the entity.

SprintFan16: I have no argument with your post. I have 'detailed files' on this particular subject matter going back to 2013. But hoseheadforums is for sprint car racing news, and I think we should not go down that rabbit hole on this forum.
On the other hand, contacting the venue would be a viable place to discuss the issue directly with the source.
I know if they contacted me directly I'd know exactly what I'd say, based on dealing with similar situations at several racing venues over the past decade that these types of things have started to infiltrate racing.
If someone wants to have an off-forum discussion with me about it, I think you all know how to get ahold of me.
So let's just leave it at that for now and I'm going to close this thread, so we can all get back to focusing and enjoying July 4th - have a good one everyone.
And Bill W, keep up the great job.
