Barely a full field last night

I expect the same at Hagerstown,  Thursday night.

Do you think racers don't "like' these tracks?

i think we might have seen the golden age of speedweek over the last few years.  monday night at lincon would have brought larson, bell, rico, stewart...among others.  even marks isn't running the full speedweek slate.  it feels very watered down compared to past years and is a casualty of the high limit/outlaw split.  thankfully the outlaws are letting their drivers race since having logan around is cool and i would imagine more will show up at williams grove friday night.

This has always been a problem at the out of the way tracks that don't have their own field of regulars. Too late of night for guys work the next day.

No dog in this fight but three heats and a feature on a school night seems ok. Looked like a pretty good feature too.

I believe Hagerstown had been getting 30 or more the last few years.

Yeah I was expecting a few more outsiders to come in and run a few with HL and WOO both off for most of it. Purses were raised this year so every race is 10G or more to win. Pay more and get less cars. Go figure.

Check non wing numbers.  $1500 to win brings 87 cars.  $15000 to win brings 23.  Slight exageration acknowledged, but it sure seems backwards.

The purses still stink though. Top 2 spots are fine but $1700 for 4th? That's almost starting money for the national tours now. I think Speedweeks going back to a showcase for the locals is okay. As long as the fans support it, it will be fine.

My thoughts exactly. It gives the local teams more chances to race for bigger money. I think maybe next year more teams won't be caught off guard and schedule more Speedweek races. The first place payout is fine. They need to raise the pay from 3rd on back though to make more cars race more races. Central PA already has enough high paying races for the traveling series.

Even as a "mostly locals" event, Pa. Speedweek has lost some luster without Fast Freddy, Hodnett & Dewease barely a contender...

Maybe the lack of cars from the Woo and HL indicates those guys arent looking for extra out of Sanction events. Maybe its just hoseheads who think the WoO wanna race anywhere and everywhere.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

That may be your opinion . Stated from far away .

Gary Kauffman (Danny Dietrich's car owner) says "roughly $25,000 to run all 10 races".

That's just normal expenses: fuel for the car, fuel for the tow, tires, motor laps, pit passes,

Many can't afford that and skip some races. Dietrich, Macri, and Schuchart probably made money, most others lost.

I missed Rico and a few others but didn't miss Larson Smile . I'm ok if it's just the locals

With the cost of the engine rebuild, I would think his assessment is way low.   That is only 2,500 per race if everything goes well.

Let's go Sprint Car Racing!

Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

The crowds did not reflect that. The local events also lost some luster when Frankie Thompson retired. And Leroy Felty and Pete Swarmer and Elmer Ruby and Junior Ritchy and Mitch Smith and Steve Smith and Kenny Weld and Jan Opperman and Todd Shaffer and many others. Someone has always carried on. I think Macri, Marks Detreich and others are doing just fine keeping things going. I see races just as good as I saw from the sixties on up. The good old days are every time you make to the track to see another one.

Because the local fans do not see it that way. Every race had a big crowd. Central PA has enough big paying races to draw the travelers in. Stop being a negative Nancy all the time . That's what drives people away from the sport.

Good point... I wasn't there, didn't see crowds
