I've never been to the Royal.  I know people that have been to both.  The overwhelming majority of those I know who have attended both will say Nationals, hands down.  It would be unfair of me to proclaim the Nats since I have never attended the Royal.  Hopefully you only get advice from those who have attended both.

Think of it like going to watch your favorite band live in concert. Eldora is the outdoor music festival with lots of alcohol, fast speeds, fast women, and a hint of nudity.

Knoxville is the indoor music hall. The accoustics & lighting are great, and everyone else is there for the same reason, the music.

So basically if you are over the age of 30 go to Knoxville.

Over the past few years we have been going to Eldora one year and the next to Knoxville.  I really like both they are both equally exciting!  Having said all that I would give Knoxville the edge.

Let's go Sprint Car Racing!

Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Been to both. Both were great. Preferred Edlora, but not by much.

I really enjoyed the seating in turns 3 and 4 at the E. The platforms where you can bring your own chair were awesome. Also, Eldora felt more like an adult party, where Knoxville was more of a whole family event.

Hah! Great analogy. However, the four times I was at Knoxville it was the Eldora you describe above almost to a T.

If you want to go to Eldora, go to the World 100 or DLMD.

This will be my 33 consecutive Knoxville Nationals. I have also been to the Kings Royal many times (Including the Mopar Million). While I consider Eldora as nothing short of a Fantastic, fun filled, exciting week. I would never give it a second thought, Knoxville Nationals is where I would be. Funny though my Wife kind of has that same attitude!!! Lol.

Great analogy, Knoxville has the same speeds though, Eldora just does it on a shorter track. Smile

I'm 90 miles from eldora and 562 miles from Knoxville. If not for a very distinguished guest wanting to go for his first dirt track & first sprint car race I doubt I'd go to the Kings Royal.   Knoxville by a wide margin!!

And grow a pair... if you want to go to both go !

So the moist tee shirt contest doesn't happen any longer @ Knoxville?

I assume that's frowned upon these days, the last really good one was 1994. But I haven't been to the Nationals for several years, so I could be speaking out of turn.

The year that TNN started broadcasting the Nationals "The Sports Calvacade", This was the beginning of the end to the Wet or What T-shirt Contests and the late hour barn activities! Back then you might even see a couple sets of tata's flashed in the grandstands!!! Knoxville has settled down ALOT since the early days! Not to say there still isn't some Craziness but it is a lot tamer these days. I was a lot younger then and it was fun (borderline crazy at times).... Now that I'm older, I like that it has mellowed out!! LOL.......

Been a lot of years since I've seen a blow up sex poodle or sheep (whatever it was) being tossed around in the grandstands!!! LMAO....
