Rumors are just that, rumors, and it would really suck if it did happen, but there might be something to it as there hasn't been a single tweet nor a Facebook post about anything since September 23rd, and in a few days it will be November 23rd.

That place has been in limbo since I've been alive. I haven't heard anything about next year but I'm not sure 2023 was much of a success. I only went to the 410 shows but car counts weren't great and crowds were dismal. The Nace Memorial had a nice turnout of fans but not what you'd like to see for a car count. I'm purest through and through but if they want to make that place a success, they're gonna have to do something dramatically different. Maybe the big 5/8 track needs to be trimmed down to a 1/3 mile. Something definitely needs to change

I believe there was talk of making it shorter when they took it over but haven't heard anything since. I hope it's not true the track has always been a staple in Pa for many divisions but especially sprinters. It's a fair board that's ultimately in charge of the property so who knows but hoping for Steph to keep it going.

Selinsgrove will be removing the tower from the infield and building a brand new one to put at the top of the new grandstands that will go the whole front stretch. They plan to move the old covered grandstands to the backstretch.

Also there is a possibility that the Raceway park could be relocated on the property. So that come 2025 Offseason they can reconfigure the track.

I hope this is only a rumor. Selinsgrove is one of my favorite tracks, especially since they moved the pitts out of the infield. The sheer speed of the old joint is breath taking. Just wish it was a tad closer for me. I try to make several shows a year despite the two hour drive.

That would be the bad part about shortening it. The speed at that place, especially when its smooth and a bit wet, is downright frightening. No question it's the fastest track in the area. But unfortunately, that's also what seems to keep a lot of teams away. You've gotta have a killer engine to be good there. Even when it's slick.

All half miles or probably anything larger than a quarter mile are hard on engines these days. Yes, racing at the high speed ring is as exciting as any big dirt track I have been to. We all know whch half mile needs to be shortened to hopefully produce better racing and increased car and fan count. I'm a traditionalist but sometimes you have to see the writing on the wall. It would suck to see Selinsgrove go by the wayside.

Does a fair board own the property or the fire company, or are they together? I heard it was the fire company property.

I believe you are correct they are probably one in the same. I would be surprised if they give up after what one season?

It seems as though the fire company can make or break the speedway and promoters. Charlie P. did a good job with the speedway and the fire company sent him down the road after several good years. Reminds me of Port Royal decades ago with their idiot fair boards that didn't see that the track could be beneficial to the community. Lets hope the big fast half mile stays in business.

The Charlie Paige era was probably the most stable for the track in the last 30 years had the place going in the right direction.

As for Selinsgrove Speedway.  New clay was being put down a couple of weeks ago.  I actually walked on the track and saw piles of red/orange clay which appeard to be sifted.  The grader was also on the track.  A local guy told me that the grader is regularly working on the track.  I took pictures of my visit during this nice sunny day.  I thanked the track personnel for giving me permission to walk on the track.  (I did ask).  I also said I  would not post any pics.   I said .."That's for you guys to do."   It was a nice visit.     Oh .. I hope it always remains a big half mile.   Most of PA's tracks are bg half miles.     Support your local dirt track.    Jim

Didn't you post a while back that they lost you because of track conditions the first couple of times you went this year? I thought when you did that you sure did dump them in a hurry at what you say is one of your favorite tracks.

Nope they redeemed themselves at the next show I was at.  I said if they continued to prepare the track that way I wouldn't be back.  They didn't and I gave them another chance.

Another track continues to  be like asphalt week in and week out......that track I will never be back to until they learn how to prepare it.

You actually made several derogatory remarks about the track in that one thread so it was not a one off remark. And in that thread there is no mention of, "if they continue to prepare the track that way."
