Are all the old timers gone from this board ?
Syracuse car ? Looks like it was inspired by Kenny Weld.
"Firestone Racing Tires" lettering - so it's got to be 70's maybe very early 80's ???

No info, just a guess. The independent front suspension and rear fenders make me wonder if this wasn't an attempt at a big block modified, likely for Syracuse?
Signature here.

I'd love to this auction if I were closer. Besides Sr's iconic cars, it looks like lot of period correct parts for a restoration project.

A lot of what is being sold will bring nothing more than scrap prices. It's unfortunate but it's reality.

None here,
That seat thats in the chassis was cutting edge at the time.
Today it is truly primative !!
I do recall them fellas were NOT telling safety workers to turn the car up while still strapped in. Jezz they were a special breed back then..... hell on any track!!
They could kick yer ass with an evil eye.. I say... Lol
From central coast of Cali.
Peace, Out.

I dont beleive it is the same car but you can make out some radical changes to Steve Smith's car in this picture from the 1981 Syracuse nationals, so they where playing around with some stuff. Was just a little boy back in the early eights and Dad used to take me to Williams Grove in turn 3 when he had the money, (some weekends is was Silver Springs) and I was a huge fan of Steve Smith back then in his 66 car years.
Would be cool to restore that back up and possible make it street legal, I am sure it would turn some heads.

Auctions used to be fun. Alot of fun. You could and in many cases would have to spent an entire day there. You previewed, you visited with friends, you bid, you bought , you paid and loaded all on the same day. And when you got home you questioned why you had bought something or just smiled at what you were fortunate enough to buy. Sometime you didn't but anything but you had alot of fun. And sometimes you even got to work an auction. Those were the days. They were events.
